Don't you have multiple uplink providers to avoid downtime?

If their fiber transport gets cut, I don't believe any of their providers will work, since they should use the same transport

Posted by digitallog, 11-23-2013, 06:28 AM
OK then lets hope they will get it fixed soon.

hello

The network is running at approx 20% right now. Unfortunately also our customer panel etc are located in the part which is having issues.

The problem is between two of our 40ch DWDM multiplexers towards telecity, staff are repatching now. The multiplexer was upgraded from 80gbit to 400gbit last week, but the redundant connection still runs on a 8ch (80gbit) multiplexer (the xfps + dwdm equipment for the redundant line upgrade to 40ch is already shipped but still located at the customs in the Netherlands). We must get the link back on 400gbps because on 80gbit there will be major capacity issues.

it will not take much longer. We appriciate all patience and support from all customers. Official mailing will be sent immediately once the issue has been solved.

@MAXZEUS, I cannot enable PM because this account is brand new on WHT. The best is to e-mail us when this issue has been solved. Then we have the time to take a look to your message. At this moment we have our hands full with communication towards our customers regarding this issue. Thank you for understanding.

Is it down again ?

Posted by ecatelsupport, 11-24-2013, 02:18 PM
yes now there is something else going on. You may experience slow connection or disconnects.

tech staff is fixing it.

At this moment our corerouters receive a very large ddos attack, targetted on our routers ips. unfortunately our default ddos protection isnt able to correctly mitate it and cpu on the 2 routers is at 100% because of that. We are applying new filters to solve the problem and it should not happen anymore after that.

Are you planning to implement source ip validation in your routers, to avoid the users from making a misuse of your services ?

This is not a question to be made for the support team or abuse team.

It is a question that one of the businessman behind this company must answer to everyone know about.

You have a partial protection for this, by tagging all the outgoing packets to the first octet of your netblock, like X.Y.Y.Y, so all the packets will be prefixed by 'X', helping to identify at least from which netblock the traffic is coming from, however the 'Y.Y.Y' can still be forged in a way to difficult the tracking of this traffic.

So here is my question again, do you plan implementing such policy ? Because right now, your issue with DoS/DDoS can be even related with this problem, there are many forums with many users speaking about this in case you don't know and there are also old posts here on WHT about this too .

An e-mail is a reply that only one person will receive, would be good to a question with this magnitude to be cleared for everyone

But thanks anyways
