Hostgator is down completely!

Posted by aeserver, 11-20-2013, 01:18 PM
Looks like hostgator is under fire again.

We have 3 dedicated servers with them and all are DOWN.

They say they have an outage at the provo DC:

We have been using them since 2007 and its the first time we face such a massive outage with all servers.

Very sad, but hostgator fell to the bottom after they were acquired by EIG.

Our servers are down as well. I just hung up with customer service. After she told me that my servers were down and they were working in it, blah, blah, blah, the conversation went like this:

ME: So I hear that you guys have been sold.

HG: Yes, a while back.

ME: And you're moving servers from Dallas to Utah?

HG: Yes.

ME: From the blogs online, it does not seem that has been going too well, has it?

HG: No. Not at all. But we're working on it.

ME: Well, considering you had a huge outage in August as well, it doesn't seem like things are getting better, does it?

HG: No. It's bad. But were working on it.

I was stunned that she was so open about agreeing with me about the issues. She sounded exasperated. Poor thing.

I wouldn't say that Hostgator was expensive. I've got sites at Rackspace as well. Talk about expensive ... go to Rackspace! I was considering moving the sites at Rackspace to Hostgator. Now, not so much. It appears that I need to start looking for another web host again. Joy.

You and me both. Not looking forward to the move, but I suppose it's inevitable. Good things get mucked up. Funny thing is when i left my old host for hostgator, the old host was in denial their service was crud.

As much as it pains me, I'm not convinced there is a host that doesn't have these kinds of problems. If we had our own infrastructure, servers, power generators and so on....we to would have the same problem. It's complicated by the fact they are moving servers to Provo, Utah....you just know something is gonna go down : (

TheWHIR is reporting that HostGator says they are back up.

Here's an article with the details http://www.thewhir.com/web-hosting-n...-center-outage

Anyone still having problems?

According to reports on another forum I use, it's still down, and it's been almost 7 hours.
When will people learn that "Hostgator" is gone, and its just EIG now?

I moved my domain & email hosting from them. It was the only thing I had left with them. Moved to namecheap.

I am not surprised... EIG always messes up migrations when they get new companies.
