bytesrack.com or lakhost.com is OFFLINE

Posted by max468, 10-09-2013, 04:47 AM
Hello,

I'm with lakhost.com (or bytesrack.com same compnay-person) from this August.
Everything was fine with my VPS (nice offer on WHT) until yesterday.
From yesterday my VPS is offline, i don't have any access on it, the main sites lakhost.com & bytesrack.com is offline too.
I can't communicate with seller with anyway.

I have opened a ticket to datacenter (Hetzner) and i'm waiting for a solution.

Propably the seller (lakhost.com bytesrack.com) is gone away with our money.
Possible NIMALI JATAKODY (owner of these companies) prepares his new company to steal money again from its new customers.

My problem is that i have a lot of sites-accounts on this VPS (i don't have keep any backups - my mistake) and i need some access to VPS (from seller or Hetzner datacenter) to make a backups of accounts-sites!

I know that you got what you pay...

Why you think they closed & moved ? You paid for long term ?

Posted by max468, 10-09-2013, 05:15 AM
If you have a server offline for 24hours+, if you can't communicate with this company, if you don't have any idea what's going on, if you have 15 sites offline (with ungry customers), then very likely may suspect that perhaps the company has shut down.

Also the support (ticketing system) of this company (when it's working was terrible) 2-3 days or never for an answer...

I was paid for my VPS from month to month (no contract).

I don't want money refund.
All that i want is access to my VPS (2-3 hours is enough) to take a backups of all sites/cPanel accounts.

I have a big problem with my customers, and yes is my mistake i don't keep any backups from this server...

If they need to collect money and close company they may not offer monthly billing terms. But I dont know exactly whats going on here. Do you have their contact number ? or skype ?

Posted by max468, 10-09-2013, 06:57 AM
The only communications was with support tickets.
They don't answer at e-mails.
I have send a lot of e-mails after "Offline" but no answer...

I try to call the telephone number, but is not available...

After a 6 days and their websites are still offline.
If i was a hosting company and have a problem with datacenter the most simple thing is to change website NS to another datacenter and keep website online. But here as you can imagine, they don't want to continue as "Lakhost" or as "Bytesrack" anymore...

My lesson is: "You get what you paid for" as we know for many years now...

Haralampos Leontopoulos

What was their reply?

Posted by max468, 10-12-2013, 11:28 AM
No answer from PayPal yet.

The reply to my email to datacenter:
"Dear Mr. Leontopoulos,

you're not a direct client of ours so I'm afraid we cannot help you. The IP you
mentioned belongs to a dedicated server, meaning there are probably dozens or even
hundreds of VPS/domains being hosted on that server.

If you cannot contact your provider then take your backups and move to a new
provider, and make sure to carefully select one that has a good reputation."

But they forget that i don't have any access to vps for backup anymore...

well, from their message it would seem that the server is still "active". so it might be something minor and there is still hope for your sites.

What if you tell them that the server is offline, and simply ask them to turn it on / fix the issue as the server company is non responsive. Just maybe they might do something as this way you are not asking for data, simply asking them to do their jobs.

Hello,

The datacenter "Hetzner" can't do anything:
"Dear Mr. Leontopoulos,

I'm sorry you're having problems with your hosting provider. Please try contacting
them again and resolving the issue.
You aren't a client of ours, so I'm afraid we cannot help you, the issue lies with
your provider."

This the answer from PayPal Resolution center:
"From Seller - Marx Ranaweerage

10/13/2013 04:38 GMT+03:00

Dear Client

We have a network issue . We are working on that. Servers will up within another 24-48 hours. I will update you shortly."

"Network Issue"??? Are kidding me? When the datacenter said that there isn't any network issue?

Let's waiting 24-48hrs to see if i can backup my data...
Already i have moved almost everything to a powerfull server.

I can see they came back now online. Your data safe I guess.

Posted by iexo, 10-14-2013, 04:03 PM
Did you get everything back?

At least they didnt steal your money and run away. Looks like they had some sort of issues affecting users sites.

But ideally, they ought to host their main sites on another server in circumstances like this.

If you haven't learned anything else from this... Save Backups Locally!

Posted by max468, 10-17-2013, 05:50 AM
I have learned a lot from this.

Anyway, he refund the money from PayPal.

So, i choose to give him a second change, for a cooperate (not for my stes hosting - but for testing and some streaming tests - the offer is really nice for this VSP).
I ask him before 2-3 days to send me the invoice for payment and some info about some speed and response issues form server.

Today (17/10) he send me the "Third Overdue Invoice" (Due Date: 31/10/2013), he suspend my VPS, he changed my name from "Haralampos Leontopoulos" to "DISASTER Leontopoulos", he changed my password from bytesrack.com user account (my service was in lakhost.com account, the invoice and support was from bytesrack.com account, and i ask him (as he told me before) to move my service from lakhost to bytesrack WHMCS billing, but he never did it).

The only thing ι regret is that I wasted hours for installing and configuring (tweaking) this VPS.

Haralampos Leontopoulos

Good to hear that however I really recomend to talk to the owner and find out his correct contact details and address if you are planning to continue hosting with them.
