Urpad down for 24 hours ... again!
Posted by kpmedia, 08-01-2013, 07:05 PM |
Urpad is such a POS.
It went down last night. It came back for about 30 minutes today, then it was off again.
First company A, then whats-his-name, and now this new company. This has happened several times now, for several months. Each time, there's zero communication. If you submit tickets, you get "We're looking into it" or "We're fixing it" (whatever the hell "it" is), but you never hear back. Urpad folks come here and say "give me your ticket number", but if you do, you still don't hear back. (What a waste of time!)
Anybody else facing this issue?
P.S. -- Avoid this host!

Down? Or inaccessible from the outside world?
I got a box at urpad with pretty good uptime.

I have a personal VPS there and it's not experiencing any issues right now. |

It's the UK servers that are down .. again.
Anything would be better than what they're doing, which is nothing.
I don't think they monitor their own servers. I'm pretty convinced of this.

Whats your ticket number?
JK, I don't work there anymore.
Best thing to do is ask to be moved to a newer node. I've got no idea what node you're on, but I do know that the older nodes seem to have more complaints/issues than the newer ones.
Ask to be moved.
Good luck |

Could you mention that in the first post in the future please KP? They had issues in LA the same day and you confused me till you said where you also had problems (OK, it doesn't take a lot to confuse me sometimes ) |

If this can happen in UK, why wouldn't you think it can happen in the USA too?
The host is the one not responding, etc -- not the UK isles.

KPmedia, are you still down? |

The low prices may have something to do with their downtime. I signed up with these jokers a while ago on a VPS plan - long story short: had one of the worst experiences of any hosting company I have ever dealt with in 10 years. |

The low prices did not seem to deter you though. You would think in 10 years you might have learnt something. |

I actually did not have any quality of service issues, so for the price, it was quite a bargain....but I figured sooner or later the price point could bring with it quality issues....I was never a customer long enough for that to unfold. |

@kpmedia what happened to your list of recommended hosts? |

I still maintain it. It's in my signature. But this forum has no signatures. If you have troubles accessing links in my signatures, alert me (PM).
The downtime monitor was pissing me off by going off every 5 minutes for 24+ hours, so I disabled it. (Still monitoring, but no emails.) I've re-enabled it, and checked the monitors. It was down around 48 hours. F-ing horrible.
This host is oversold. I'm not guessing here. I have sources. It's fact. The new owner appears to be just as much of an amateur as the old ones. (What is this .. owner #3 now?)
I think think Hostgator has better uptime.

@kpmedia: LOL you misunderstood me. I would never take any advice you gave seriously. |

I never suggested Urpad (or their other brands).
So not sure where you're going with this. And it's not on-topic anyway, so enough of that.

I know you and I spoke about this, but when I was with them, everything ran smoothly for almost a year and a half. I left when it went downhill...but would that be the time they changed owners?
I'm guessing Owner #2 must have had some knowledge of what they were doing to have things run properly, be helpful, and address any issues which were usually minor very quickly. Within the whole time I was with them I might have had 2 downtime's for 5 minutes for scheduled maintenance.
Unfortunate if that's no longer the case. |

@48-14 - yup about that time.
I had a few personal boxes with them, the various locations they had was actually a really useful option for me. Whilst Chris was hardly the most hands on owner it did run pretty damn well given the number of customers and servers they had.
It was a brand that had a good vibe to it even when negatives were posted they were fairly quick at turning it around.
But since RLT came in it's just went flat and hopeless so I jumped ship to save any future hassle.
Shame really, you don't really hear of them nowadays unless in a post like this. |

Now your VPS is online?
If still down then take a backup of your data and move to other company. |

Nice to see that they can still post offers but ignore threads like this. |

It's a test VPS. I keep my important stuff on top-tier hosts like LiquidWeb or EuroVPS. I'd never keep actual sites on Urpad, even before it was bought out (again). It was a low-level budget host.
It just annoys me when I want it, and can't test things, because it's down.
I wouldn't be surprised if RLT deadpooled.
