OneProvider US-CA down 150 hours, no detail explanation
Posted by fireshark, 07-19-2013, 03:05 AM |
My VPS at OneProvider has been down for over 150 hours.
The ticket I filed is responded to fairly quickly, but there is still no detail about the cause of the outage or an estimated time until it is fixed.
I was very happy with OneProvider until this, but 7+ days downtime is unacceptable...

Not a very impressive uptime at all to say the least. Have they not given any idea as to what the issue is at all ? i mean what did they say in your ticket? |

* There is some network issue that should be resolved shortly. (07/11)
* We currently have a network issue that is being worked on. (07/16)
* We have a problem with the IP range used by your server and are in contact with the upstream provider to correct this as soon as possible. (07/17)
--this tells me virtually nothing about the cause and in whose hands it falls. |

problem is basically out of their hands then, Whomever they lease the hardware/network from is likely to be having issues, Do you not know who their provider is?
*Edit* I agree, shoddy replies to such downtimes. |

Actually I don't, and I wouldn't be likely to be able to do anything about that. |

Well, I don't mean go chase their provider, by asking what i did i meant you could check the forums here to see IF they themselves have any reported issues |

How familiar. Something like that happened with OneProvider to me twice. Ticket replies like "We are currently investigating the issue and will get back to you shortly on this matter" with days of waiting without knowing what actually happened and if your box will be back at all are completely useless. Your best bet is that you will get some answers over WHT which is sad.
By my experience they will credit you for downtime however it's just worrisome how easily things like that happen with this host and how long they last. I mean 5 hours of downtime is LONG downtime which cause damage to clients, but we're talking about days and days of downtimes with this host. Just terrible... |

Usually when providers have outages lasting days, it's SOMETIMES due to financial reasons. As in, they owe money. I am not saying that is the case here... but you know. |
