Did you try calling them?

it seems like someone forgot the password on the core switch or router and they had to physically reset it lol
this is why it took so long to bring things back up |

I can confirm our equipment was down as well. We went onsite and heard the same, Allstream/Frontier Networks got locked administratively out of their demarc equipment prolonging the outage by 6-7 hours (they had to dispatch techs to reset/reconfigure).
There was a posting up in 3Z's portal though with some basic details. Had no problems calling in as well for updates. |

Downtime for 8 and half hours actually, so much for redundancy and uptime.
I'm really disappointed, this is the second downtime in 6 months. |

Just to add to the mess, it wasn't only network / they has issue with power as well, all of our boxes were rebooted, this is just a half ass colo |

Not arguing on the length of downtime, was just stating the reasons given why it was so prolonged after the initial power event, extending it by 6-7 hours. Hoping the RFO once sent out will shed more light on it.
Luckily we were prepared for this with failover, hopefully others were as well. We've had major downtime in pretty much every colo we've ever been with be it cheap (like 3z) or expensive and learned from it. It just tends to hurt a little more when your paying $3500+ per rack with A+B power/redundant network drops and stuff still goes down
We've come to learn its not a matter of if downtime will occur, but when, and trying to be prepared for it. |
