GoDaddy.com --> Down?
Posted by richardhay, 06-02-2013, 08:34 AM |
Good morning everyone.
We have a few of our domains with GoDaddy.com. However, I can't seem to get to their site, any of their support portals, or to the domain manager at the moment. When I try, the site resolves to an empty white page--no error.
I'm not able to ping or traceroute GoDaddy from a couple of servers. But, as I see no other discussion of this anywhere--from online forums, to here, to news outlets--and since sites like isitdownforeveryoneorjustme.com show the site as "up," I'm wondering if this is a local issue.
Are you able to get to or resolve GoDaddy.com?
Thanks...

Their site is loading fine from the UK. Try a tracert and see if it's something along the way or when you hit their server. |

Thanks F-DNS. A traceroute from my own computer and a separate US-based server can't resolve the domain "godaddy.com". Netrenderer.com (which displays a current picture of a website) also shows a blank white page if you enter "godaddy.com".
But, I'm optimistic that it's up somewhere... Thank you for checking!

Umm, yeah... something is amiss. Now, when I enter "godaddy.com," I am redirected to "godaddy.com/?nr=2" which reads "Welcome to godaddy.com. This Web page is parked FREE, courtesy of GoDaddy.com."
Time to move on to another project and come back to this one later.

I logged on here to find out too... before I sat on hold listening to how important my call was for 15 mins! |

I tested that with the IE9 setting and it rendered GoDaddy's site just fine.

godaddy.com/?nr=2 redirects to their main site for me with "Meet Sindy" on their front page.
Their DNS (all 3 nameservers) all work fine for me too.
This is beginning to sound like an issue limited to visitors from one area. Otherwise, even though this thread is less than an hour old, given the number of GoDaddy customers out there it should/would be on about page 15 by now |

Or from a few ISPs. They're getting a lot of activity on their twitter feed regarding this exact issue; however, according to them, it's limited to Comcast (which I don't have) and a few other providers.
Hopefully it'll be resolved soon.

Yep, that's gone a bit bonkers. They haven't updated http://support.godaddy.com/system-alerts/ yet but I'll check it every now and then and let you know if they post something.
At least now you know it's not just you |

The issue appears to be resolved... feel free to close the thread. |

It's working from my side. |

It's up and down since Friday (started daytime PST) - still going on as now (just tried).
Sometimes it's takes 7-10 times to "referesh" their site or special service URL (like domain manager) to make it work.
Very annoying - cannot properly access webmail, hosted sites or domain manager.
It's not ISP issue on my end - since same errors come-up on Comcast, AT&T and Verizon connections (in USA).
Hope they will fix that very soon !!! |

The most of the stuff is still down - feels like their DNS is under DDoS ?
This webpage is not available
The server at idp.securepaynet.net can't be found, because the DNS lookup failed. DNS is the network service that translates a website's name to its Internet address. This error is most often caused by having no connection to the Internet or a misconfigured network. It can also be caused by an unresponsive DNS server or a firewall preventing Google Chrome from accessing the network.
Error 105 (net::ERR_NAME_NOT_RESOLVED): Unable to resolve the server's DNS address.
Similar messages for almost all of their services...
Come on Godaddy, we are still working on weekends !!! |

I don't think it's a DDoS, it looks more like Comcast have blocked GoDaddy's nameservers. On Twitter GoDaddy are suggesting that Comcast customers use OpenDNS's resolvers as a temporary fix: http://use.opendns.com/
Out of interest can you load http://97.74.104.201 ? (That's the IP address for GoDaddy's site) |

Hmmm... Magically - IP and www.godaddy.com are working now again, at full speed (without any changes on my end).
Will see how long this will last and I'm still unsure why this happens in the first case. |

Checking Google for history of Comcast/Godaddy issues - hmm... it's a pretty long story here and going for a while now - each side is blaming each other. |

I am also facing same problem. What should i have to do now? |

The site godaddy.com usually opens from Brazil, I'm having trouble accessing my domain and my email works normally. Seems to be a DNS issue.
Try using GOOGLE DNS or OpenDNS |

Maybe it's just me but it's not down anymore...
Wonder what happened. |
