Europhase down??

Posted by amberleaf, 02-09-2013, 09:04 PM
I have a VPS at Europhase and it has been down for over 24 hours now, no email warnings, no communication. Nothing.

I done a whois on their domain and the phone number is also dead.

Does anyone know what has happened to Europhase?

Been with them a few years and this hasn't happened before.

Did you find any info on this yet? Europhase had a UK support number no?

Its a disgrace that no contact has been made with customers to allow them to make other provisions.

No nothing yet. I was hoping for something to have been done about it with the weekend now passed and normal office hours have started again.

Their 0870 number that is listed on the whois record seems to be dead... Either that or a thought that has just crossed my mind is that my mobile contract doenst allow me to call 0870 numbers. I will try from a landline soon.

I also did a bit of digging and found Europhase's host and emailed them, got a reply as soon as their office opened but as usual 'data protection' stops them from letting me know if there is problems at their end with one of their clients. I thought a simple yes or no would have been sufficient as all I asked is if they are having service issues.

Its the same as this one? 0870 730 7191 (from their twitter feed).

Home address?

24 Boswall Drive
Edinburgh
EH5 2DX

Perhaps you can get a number for that from directories

Posted by amberleaf, 02-11-2013, 03:35 PM
Nothing from the address... I have found another hosting company that is now non existent that was linked to a very close address to the one you gave me. I seen rack internet ltd, they dont have any findable website now.

Just wandering if the guy had a few hosting companies and has just decided to run off with the cash? I would have been more than happy to get an email saying they were in problems and I had to relocated, I had a few months left of my server but I'd rather have warning to move than no warning like what has happened.

Really not much I can do apart from just deal with it, forget it, and move on

I have found something that is quite sad

Quote:
THOMAS CURRIE Peacefully, at home on Wednesday 6th February 2013, Tommy much loved husband of Agnes, loving dad, papa and grampa. Tommy will be missed by all his family and friends. Funeral Service at Woodside Crematorium on Tuesday 12th February at 10am.
I now know why my server is down and I can understand the reasons behind it. Europhase WAS a good company in its day and I am sorry to hear that Tom has passed away.

It doesn't sound like he was so old if his grampa is still around. Hopefully he didn't have too many clients and his wife won't get too much hassle from people looking for their data.

RIP.

Hello,

I have managed to convince the server people to re-enable their servers for the moment, they will remain online for a week from today. My advice would be to get your data from those servers as quickly as you can.

Hopefully that will help some of you out. btw am not a customer of Europhase, I have my own hosting co but I hate seeing situations like this. Its a shame the guy died but there should be contingency plans for this in the business.

WOW! Thank you so much for taking the time to have this done! You have saved me hours of work bringing my site back up to date as my backups had corrupted and I was actually making a backup when the server went down.

But, I have logged in and am making backups as I type this :-)

Thank you very much, the world needs more people like you.

I am glad I could help.

Hi Guys,

Just to let you know we've had a few people who have contacted us in the past week regarding Europhase being offline. We were unaware of the situation and were very sad to hear of Thomas's passing.

Unfortunately due to the DP Act (and obviously confidentiality of clients' data) we are not allowed to release any information regarding the servers or provide root level access to them.

However once our team had verified what had happened, we decided to enable access to all machines for one week as of today so that any clients who have access to their data can retrieve it.

Please do spread the word if you do know any other customers of Europhase.

Equally feel free to contact us directly if you need help with anything else.

Regards,
Manu

I'm very sad to hear this!

Thomas was a good person and true gentleman! He helped me in every situation that i had (even when i had payment problems) unlike some hosts.

R.I.P.
