MS Exchange Online down

Posted by mosaicdata, 02-01-2013, 11:07 AM
Is anyone else having trouble connecting to MS Exchange Online or Office 365 services this morning?

I am unable to connect to my exchange server this morning or the portal at http://portal.microsoftonline.com

The portal is accessible now, but still no connectivity to our exchange server or email accounts.

Just got a call from a client (small biz.) asking why Outlook won't connect to their Exchange Online accounts this morning, and I get "server unavailable" when trying to investigate. 8:30a Mtn time.

Spoke with Microsoft there was an issue that is affecting a number of servers with Office 365. They are working to resolve it.

I know it can happen to anyone, but...whoa! My clients and I are new to O365; has this ever happened before (since it's been O365)?

We have been on O365 for several years now...since it was BPOS and we have been very happy with the service and reliability, but there have been some outages...especially when they are rolling out new upgrades and such.

Right now they are in the process of rolling out Exchange 2013 and I would imagine that has something to do with the outage today.

Hey...as I am writing this post I see that my email just started pouring in....we are back online now.

Yep, ours seems to back now, too. Thanks for your thoughts. I guess they get credit for getting it resolved quickly. Have any previous outages lasted much longer, if you can recall?

We have not experienced any extended outages, however I know that MS did have some issues late last year with a couple of back to back outages...but we were not affected by them.

Overall, I would say that their service, support and reliability have been well above average.

That's comforting, thanks. That's been my experience, too, in the short time I've been working with O365. We're an MS shop, so I want to believe...

G'day!
