Mosaic Data Services completely down for over 7 hours

Mosaic data services has been down for at least 7 hours. They sent an email out saying that their primary storage array experienced an outage. Their main site is offline as well!
However, they claim to have redundancy but this outage seems to contradict their claim.
Quite annoyed that there is hardware that has failed and no failover.
Is this common with other hosts? I am hoping for a refund if they ever do come back online. |

Finally! 10 hours of total downtime (http, pop, ftp) and now they're back up. |

Mosaic Data Services was not completely down during this time, however one of the primary SANs in our Baltimore datacenter was down from 3:15pm to 11pm on Wednesday, January 30 due to a hard disk failure in our primary SAN. This outage affected a number of VPS customers as well as about 150 shared hosting customers and our own website.
The cause was a single drive failure in the SAN early in the day on January 30, the failed drive was replaced and as the new drive was rebuilding, a second drive in the SAN also failed causing the entire array to collapse.
We were able to fully recover from our backups and we sent out numerous messages and updates to our clients throughout the event via email and twitter (http://twitter.com/mosaicdata) |
