Carat Networks down AGAIN

Posted by PaulM, 11-25-2012, 09:41 AM
We've had intermittent network issues over the last few weeks which haven't been addressed despite contact. Currently the whole network has been down this morning for an hour without response.

Finally back online. Lets see how long it lasts as yesterday we were up and down like a yo-yo. Daily outages are becoming the norm. I would suggest Carat at least put their support and email on a different network so there is some communication during outages.

If i recall awhile ago, Carat was bought out. Is it possible they are moving servers/network?

Hello PaulM

We experienced a repeated DDoS attack over the weekend. When we blocked one source, we experienced another attack elsewhere. We were able to isolate the direction of the attacks and block them off. We apologize for the interruptions in your service, but our customer support was available all during this time and providing information to our customers as it was available to them.

Thank you.

and down again. When is this going to stop?

Posted by battle, 12-06-2012, 03:45 PM
Indeed. Seems to be the same cause as well. Probably a DDoS as it seems to be very sporadic.

It is another DDoS, they have been up and down for the better part of an hour.

We asked for a account credit as per their "SLA". They refused to provide a refund saying that they suffered 2 separate consecutive outages...

Their Answer :

"We experienced 2 separate DoS attacks today. The first issue was identified and resolved within minutes.

so no credit, down for over an hour!, i am SPEECHLESS

What do they guarantee in the SLA?

Can anyone recommend a better Canadian provider?

What for? Shared, VPS, dedicated?

Crocweb has good reputation. Netelligent also.

Dedicated. Its been cowboys and indians with Carat. Cowboys before the sale and indians after.

Now we are inseparable from the network.

And Carat is down yet again today - this seems to be the new normal for Carat Networks, which is unfortunate.

iWeb is in Canada

Yep down for me as well,

Code:
  Mon: heartbeat
 Host: shared2_iceteks_net
Value: 170 seconds since last agent contact
Alarm: Agent Down
State: Critical
 Date: Dec-16-2012 01:25:43pm

Sent by EnviroState 1.0.5
I can load sites partially but then it stops. I'm actually surprised I got that email because the server used to send it is on that host. Little flaw there in my monitoring solution.

Interestingly I also got a low memory alarm, went to 0. Then restored within 10 minutes. Could be a glitch in my monitoring system though, I'm still beta testing it.

in canada: you can also try: ***** , peer1 , rackforce, primustel , they are all big and stable.

Posted by ayksolutions, 12-16-2012, 06:47 PM
Peer1 is solid, but more expensive than others.

we have several servers with cartika and they have been nothing but awesome

A number of hackers are probably doing simultaneous hacking on different hosts.

Resellerzoom's specific server is also under DDOS attack.
