Posted by MziB, 09-20-2012, 11:31 PM This is the second time I have experienced downtime with Secure Dragon LLC. I have a VPS with them, but when it goes down, the main site of that company also suffers and is offline therefore making it impossible to get in touch with the support team.
Even when the VPS comes back online, no notice is sent to client -- it all goes silent.
Anyone else having downtime issues with Secure Dragon (http://securedragon.net/)?
Posted by ZKuJoe, 09-21-2012, 12:55 AM We've posted advance notice of the network maintenance. I apologize for the 4 minutes of downtime we experienced because our new backup router was not failing back to our primary (we installed a new backup router which we failed over to without any issues, we then decommissioned our old primary router, and replaced the primary with the old backup router but we had to move the fiber card over).
In addition, after a few seconds of downtime our domain automatically redirects to http://drgn.biz which is not hosted in our data center so it stays online while if our network goes down. Unfortunately the TTL is set to 5 minutes so it may take that long for DNS to update.
I provide regular updates as we do maintenance as you can see by the announcement. No downtime was expected because of the redundancy in place but we did end up experiencing 4 minutes of downtime when we rebooted our backup router to force our primary router to become the master (we had to reboot the backup router into the latest Vyatta build for it to work properly).
