Burst.net / Volumedrive Scranton outage?

Posted by DotVPS-J, 09-17-2012, 08:01 PM
Hi,

I Just about 10-20 pingdom reports due to PA being down..

I went to login and it was online however after doing a mtr to pingdom and other sites like google... it has packetloss?

'xe1-01.gwy03.sctn01.hostnoc.net' 91.1% loss I guess that's Burst's core?

Hmm... Very interesting. My old HudSonValleyHost VPS which is on a VolumeDrive Dedicated Server, has no packetloss..

Could be at their Florida location. The PA VolumeDrive location did have some packetloss about 10 minutes ago.

xe1-01.gwy03.sctn01.hostnoc.net had 91% packetloss?

2. core.sctn02.volumedrive.com 0.0% 0.6 6.0 0.3 157.9 25.3
3. xe1-01.gwy03.sctn01.hostnoc.net 91.3% 0.5 25.5 0.3 369.7 68.1

then a lot of ??? after it

Seems to be fixed now though

For not having a problem you seem quick of the blocks on getting here??

Even I have packetloss in the UK now... it was just a few routes that had issues.

I can confirm as well that there are absolutely no issues occurring network-wide, nor any indications of anything affecting multiple customers.

As for the quick response, perhaps he frequents this site often and simply responded to the OP's initial statement.

It's been discussed multiple times over the years, volumedrive and burstnet don't share the same space and network components. Volumedrive may get some bandwidth from them, but from the previous understanding they operate their own networking gear. So if Volumedrive has some network issues, it doesn't mean BurstNET is having issues as well.

I'm sure BurstNET doesn't appreciate being dragged into every single Volumedrive outage. I'm also sure Volumedrive doesn't appreciate being recognized as BurstNET on these forums. Either way, both companies don't appreciate having their own brands being mixed every time there is an issue..... Just something i've noticed in previous threads.

No, It is actually in Scranton, PA with VolumeDrive. Just ask HVH.

Are you sure? If we look on the internet:

Volume Drive:

http://www.oikosnetworks.com/datacen...escott-ave.htm
http://colochart.com/company/volumedrive

BurstNET

Same address

They share the same building, yes. However, volumedrive operates their own network equipment. This has been discussed so many times that I'm sure volumedrive will mention it again.

Our monitoring of our nodes at BurstNET PA show zero problems.

Nah - He's go Corp membership and gets keyword alerts every time someone posts the word "BurstNET" - Perhaps the threadstarter would be good enough to report his post and have BurstNET removed from the thread title or he's gonna have a mighty full email box for no good reason

I believe it was an issue with Burst though?

Volumedrive said yes there was an issue and it was Burst's hop with the P/L not Volumedrive : )
