Volumedrive Jacksonville network issues

Posted by DotVPS-J, 09-02-2012, 11:50 PM
Volumedrive's Jax network has been up and down like a yo yo.

Downtime: 13h 1m in the past 31 days with Number of Downtimes 97 Different outages.

No reply to my emails sent multiple and when they do reply it's something like:

'We're recieiving a flood on all our IPs'

Anyone having this issue with them turning into a really poor provider?

I have had 19 hours downtime in the past 12 months and 13 of those are in the past 31 days!

Got a reply from Josh:

Network is still having issues. New distributed attack sprung up at 11PM GMT -5 and we're still working to block it.

While this is a sad thread for businesses (Both provider and clients), I couldn't hold my lough reading your example. Lmao.

Hope things will get better soon.

Its natural when you are looking for cheap server . Better get a server from some quality provider like softlayer , Singlehop , Leaseweb . Previously i had a vps with them and most of time vps stop responding because of node overloaded . You are lucky you get better uptime then me .

Surprise, Surprise, The attack continues, and yet our Jacksonville servers are nullrouted.(The previous attack definitely was not Inbound to our servers).

This is pretty pathetic, The lack of communication is not good at all.

I think you're stepping over the line by comparing quality in the outage forum. Personally, I find SoftLayer to be a revolting quality for what you pay. They do have some clever back-end architecture designed - but while I was hosted there I had a number of repeated network issues that always were returned with "We don't know." type responses when there were outages. Once or twice they would acknowledge the outage but did not provide a public post-mortem - it was always covered up whenever possible not to tarnish their image.
