Dear customer,

Around 19:00 hours last night the chassis of one of our main core switches failed hopelessly.
We have replaced the hardware and our technical staff have done a tremendous job getting the situation as it was before this failure. We offer our sincere apologies for any inconvenience this may have caused you.

In case you are still experiencing any problems with your server(s) we suggest you reboot your system. If this does not solve your problem please feel free to contact us at support@ecatel.net

Do your research people... Anon is ddos-ing them. It isn't a switch issue.

The funny thing is by the way that Anon host their websites at Ecatel as well exactly because of the freedom policies of Ecatel. Oh the irony...

Posted by notallisbad, 08-20-2012, 08:27 AM
there is no DDOS from Anonymous, you can check a bit and will see the reouters are responding well but not routing the packets to the servers.

PD: Anonymous can be any person, looks like too much gangsters trying to exthort people are called anonymous aka Booters.

I will open a new twitter account Anon<InsertRandomText> and call for DDOS ! and people like retards will download my 5$ booter program and click Start.

What if you do something more cool than hack outdated Wordpress version and run a 10$ bootnet purchased at hackforums ?

Posted by bhanuprasad1981, 08-20-2012, 08:45 AM
nearly 4 hours still down

Posted by MMJPat, 08-20-2012, 08:54 AM
Anyone know if Ecatel give refunds?

Posted by Brown Ghost, 08-20-2012, 09:04 AM
Mann i hope "Anonymous" is fair, if they ddos Ecatel they are also destroying countless other business, that would not be fair!

i hope "Anonymous" has the decency to not destroy innocent bystanders.

if the want to prove a point, then ddos only Ecatel own webpage and there own webpage server, not all the network, that hurts all the rest of us..

im loosing tons on $ every hours my servers are down. and costumers..

Posted by RoelMPV, 08-20-2012, 09:07 AM
I am getting so sick and tired of these countless ecatel problems!

They don't even login to this board and inform the community, nothing!

If it happens again, ill move away from them for good, damnit

Update.. Just got a call back from Ecatel, the fiber company has called and told ecatel they are almost done.. so maybe 1 hours time i hope..

I do feel Ecatel is giving me a good service, the are calling me and updating me, i like that

This is acceptable, if they had one guy do just what you did they'd have more happier customers.

@Brown Ghost

please continue to post any/all updates =)

Posted by Ecatel, 08-20-2012, 01:30 PM
There is nothing wrong with our peers and/or bandwidth providers.

Two of our main fibers are broken, our fiber supplier is working hard to have them fixed. We already asked them how it is possible both are broken at the same time. We dont know how this is possible yet. All we know the fibercut is near Amsterdam and people are working all day already to have it fixed. The exact location of the fibercut is found now.

All services will be up again ASAP today.
We apologise to everyone for the inconvenience caused by this terrible issue.

Glad to hear that the issue gets resolved

Definitely never the case, always multiply their estimates by atleast 4!

Hope @Ecatel can give us some news/estimates now?

Hi

The supplier just phoned us and had contact with the engineers working on the road. Deadline is 03:00 CET (so thats 4 hours and 30 minutes left) then it should be operational 100% again. It appears to be a very serious issue with the cables which they are recovering.

Posted by McVaio, 08-20-2012, 04:28 PM
Could you enlighten us what happened to the cables? Were it roadworks or something like that?

Posted by Ecatel, 08-20-2012, 04:37 PM
hello,

We dont know if it were roadworks, but probably not because they took a very long time finding the exact location the cables are broken. We will ask them and if we know more we will update everyone.

Thank you again for your patience all.

This week was the first major issue week I've had with Ecatel through about 8 months of service with them.

They've always been reliable and I'm sure if this could be resolved faster, it would be. It appears the issue is out of their hands right now, and the services will be back online as promised.

Posted by RoelMPV, 08-20-2012, 05:17 PM

I've been using Ecatel for 11 months now and only had around 12 hours downtime total, until today.

Please get this fixed asap.

I only had 1-2 Network down times while i was with them I think..

But they are quick to update you with all issues if there is any.

Exactly why I'm not optimistic at all, it's 3:30 in the morning there, the chances of them being up is slim.

We'll have to wait until tomorrow for the "lines to be repaired", or the "packets to stop flowing".

Good job Ecatel.

it was down for 16 hour(s), 44 minute(s) and 49 second(s) , Shame it took so long to repair..

@Ecatel did you know the second it went down or did it take an hour or so before you were notified?

There was a fiber break due to street work in AMS, this did not only affect Ecatel but also others (which had a redundant path, so no downtime there), also affected some Transit providers i use for AMS-IX Transport

No DDoS

EDIT:
Uhoh, seems someone is mad

not so reliable to get a continuesly problem in this week,
legit websites owner will not trust this kind of company
but spammer/booters/ddoser/CP owners will have patient on this kind of issue
not saying because i dont like ecatel, but just my toughts most of them are in my third lines, so sad but its true

As a legit websites owner I have not encountered this kind of downtime with Ecatel before during the > 5 years I've been with them. And I do not host any of the contents you mention. Ecatel is also perceived as being a host with a fast connection, great bandwith usage offerings and a very competitive price. Although I must say that reliability has become a bit questionable after the recent events. I have only experienced downtime yesterday by the way, not during the days before.

Didn't they have a similar downtime in 2008? so that would be included in the 5 years?

Can you report one of the domains you used to the mods by pressing the report button beside your post. The timing of this post and your post count make your review suspicious (not to mention the content).

Dear customer,

Two of our main transit lines were cut off without any warning because of many
copyright infringements and spamming from our network.

We proved over and over again that there was no spamming out of our network, they
just laughed at us.
Normally it would take more than 5 working days to find alternative connections,
however after having put in more than 24 hours of solid trying, we've managed to get
back on line again via other operators.

Ecatel did EVERYTHING to get this issue solved at soon as possible.

We sincerely apologize to all our faithful customers for all inconvenience caused.

I have probably only ever posted about Ecatel because I am only making use of their hosting service?
What would a domain name tell them? My domains are not registered with them, just a colocated server (used to be more in the past).
