ChicagoVPS Buffalo DC down!
Posted by UpReseller, 07-18-2012, 06:40 AM |
Hi,
I just notice so all vps with chicagovps.net on Buffalo, NY DC was down since Date/Time: Jul 18 2012 03:53:45 AM EDT and still no response. I'm not lucky, because I host main site with billing system on same node. Now I think this is a chance to find another one.
Regard,

a single downtime does not mean you should change dc
a downtime can go with any data center its long time relation and how they manage the downtime which meters
Usually a downtime from a dc should not be more then 1 hr . In case of hardware change ( if single server ) then 2-12 hrs depends |

All nodes are same issue, I'm not new guy, please.
Check status. http://stats.pingdom.com/jzrszp4wfu79
If they replace hardward, should we receive email regarding it?
Count more. Now 4 hours. |

Looks a lot like their ISP is having issues. |

Correct there are some issues, however I personally agree with prateek, you should wait until the issue is dealt with and how it's dealt with, and make a decision from there, not jump to a decision now. It may be something that's a one off.
However hosting your Billing System and Main Site on the same node or same VPS, or same server is never a good idea, it's always a good idea to spread it out so your clients will always be able to get in touch with you. |

well, 4 hours downtime is not 4 min.
They should at least reply to tickets, post on facebook, twitter, website or whatever means they have to communicate with customers.
i hate SILENCE |

i kinda agree . For such kind of downtime host should always send a single mail to all client affected or post on community
but when it come to ticket i would also start ignoring the ticket because respond to such ticket will only delay the solution. Unless they get a dedicated team for each department . |

We are aware that Buffalo is having issues. We have ColoCrossing engineers on the way to the data center as it appears more than just our equipment is having issues. We will have an RFO as soon as we know what all was and is going on.

It seems to be solved, at least on my end. |

I can confirm this is fixed on my end as well, I never have gotten very good support from them though tickets take days to answer as an average. Server is awesome though I use it for my personal sites. |
