Datashack

Posted by subigo, 06-29-2012, 03:50 PM
Anyone have any information on the partial outage at Datashack right now?

Posted by mcdl, 06-29-2012, 03:51 PM
Apart from I believe it's in their cable part not really.

Still no reply on my ticket to them.

Posted by RobbyJR, 06-29-2012, 03:54 PM
Yes, put in a ticket myself, still no reply.

This is the 3rd outage this month.. Looks like its time for anew home. I know its probably not their fault and you do get what you pay for.. but I never got this level of outage on any other comparable provider.

Probably not the place to ask, but any recommendations?

They lost power and the generator didn't kick in. I've been with half a dozen datacenters over the last five years and it doesn't seem like any of them know how to setup a working generator that does its job.

Posted by mcdl, 06-29-2012, 04:03 PM
True, just got a reply. This isn't the first time this has happened with them which was one of the reasons I switched a lot of my servers elsewhere.

Posted by ryguy222, 06-29-2012, 04:07 PM
My servers are back online, had about 30 minutes of an outage. It also doesn't even look like my server lost power.

Posted by subigo, 06-29-2012, 04:08 PM
Mine definitely lost power. There goes 150+ days of uptime... meh.

Posted by Alpha1Ed, 06-29-2012, 04:26 PM
They had a power outage. They are working on getting the generator going. The generator for some reason didn't pick up from the outage. They are working on it.

My servers still down so this makes it over 5 hours downtime which is terrible for them, finally I am moving completely away from them.

Apparently WSI will also be moving to The Cable Building. Hope the issues are resolved by then.

We are currently building out a new data center in a property we purchased in North Kansas City. When we are finished both Wholesale and DataShack will move all dedciated servers there. Wholesale will keep colo customers at Oak Tower and DataShack will keep colo customers at The Cable Building.

Yeah, this is pretty disappointing. I don't have anything majorly critical on my server, but I don't like that it's been down for so long. Am starting to look into other hosts.

It doesn't sound like this will be happening very soon. A few weeks ago I requested a quote for a good handful of servers, and they implied that things were filling up.

They have space, it's just not built out yet.

Hello,

Me too, i am starting to look for other hosts.

Posted by subigo, 07-06-2012, 06:36 PM
Here we go again...?

Posted by ryguy222, 07-06-2012, 06:38 PM
Yup my colo at the cable facility is down too, though everything in Oak Tower is still up.

I'm definitely moving my last few servers away from them, they go down 3-5 times a month now.

I've probably been their biggest defender for a while... but this is definitely starting to get a bit irritating.

Sigh... that's it, another power outage.

I'm done with this ********.

Posted by ryguy222, 07-06-2012, 07:18 PM
Support said a cooling loop was shutoff, and a breaker blew. They've replaced the breaker, and are fixing the cooling loop. ETA is 30 minutes.

Sure is annoying, When you have a flood of tickets.
Considering moving Kansas to UK, These downtimes are not just once every so often, It is 3 or 4 times per month.

I hope you guys are doing some FSCK's with all these outages.

Posted by Keiro, 07-06-2012, 07:32 PM
Ronald: I had to do that for the last outage. Now I gotta do it again. **** me, I JUST ****ING FINISHED RECOVERING THE DATA FROM THE SERVER FOR A WEEK.

And this ******** happens again.

Maybe it was a good thing datashack never responded to the three emails I sent them regarding a sales inquiry.

Posted by knowledge is power, 07-06-2012, 08:18 PM
Yes, my server is down as well. I have opened ticket yesterday because my server it was down and they closed it without answer my question.

Posted by subigo, 07-06-2012, 08:20 PM
So much for that 30 minute ETA.

Posted by mcdl, 07-06-2012, 09:34 PM
3 Hours now and my servers still down; they're not responding to tickets either.

Terrible service, I recommend everyone moving now.

I got an email saying servers were all back up, but mine is definitely still down.

Posted by mcdl, 07-06-2012, 09:38 PM
Yeah I got told mine would be online in a few moments but to them a few moments is an hour. (And counting)

I'm back up... finally.

Posted by mcdl, 07-06-2012, 10:04 PM
Lucky for some, I think they've taken a coffee break or something. Really starting to frustrate me when they're ignoring me replies.

Very unprofessional 'company'.

I am still down, they are definitely worth moving away from now.

Posted by Keiro, 07-06-2012, 11:31 PM
Mine's been back up for a while. :U Still moving the last of my customers from there.

Posted by subigo, 07-07-2012, 12:19 AM
If you have an unanswered ticket with them, you better go close it fast. I opened a ticket 2-3 hours ago, because my server still wasn't up and then it came up about 30 minutes later...

Well, they just saw the ticket and decided to hit the power button on my server, apparently not checking to see that it was actually online and running fine before doing so.

Posted by ryguy222, 07-07-2012, 12:20 AM
My server came up about 30 minutes ago, but my machine uptime was 4 hours at that point. Likely most of their networking was still down.

Posted by knowledge is power, 07-07-2012, 05:47 AM
My server it was down from yesterday until now.

This made me chuckle!

Bit of late night humor
