HostingFuze: Scranton, PA

Posted by Richboos, 06-02-2012, 10:47 AM
Both of my HostingFuze VPS located in Scranton, PA are down. The were up yesterday. Anyone else with HostingFuze or VPSFuze having this problem?

I am not 100% certain, but I think that HostingFuze is utilizing BurstNet hardware and network (Based on a BGP record with a BurstNet email address). There were some intense storms in the Scranton area, but I don't see any BurstNet outages on WHT.

Our BustNET servers have been running fine all day.

My VPS on HostingFuze has also been inaccessible since yesterday and so far I have had no response to my ticket.

Well, I just got a response to my ticket. At least they're still alive over there.

Did you happen to submit the ticket to a department that does not respond on weekends (like Sales?). A 2 day response for an emergency is not acceptable

Nope, I submitted the ticket to "VPS Hosting Support". No further updates to my ticket so I don't really know what they're up to.

Sounds like BurstNet just based on the Scranton, PA and low cost. Be as patient as possible, but you've been kept waiting too long so far. For a serious issue, you would hope that their support depatment (as you said you did not contact sales) would be more responsive. Do they have an admin department you can complain to?

Hello,
Not sure how the cost of Burst has anything to do with this. I do not think HostingFuse is reselling Bursts VPS's however they may be having an issue with one of the servers.

My ticket 390414 remains unanswered since about this time yesterday. My attempts to call keep going to voicemail after a few seconds, which seems pointless. At this point I'm not really sure what to do.

Speak of the devil, I finally get a response from Camron T. himself. Unfortunately it's really bad news: A disk has eaten itself...

We are having disk issues with the node you are on in Scranton, we only have a couple servers left @ BurstNET and are working to restore the files. Likely the disk is corrupt.
I'd like even part of my data back, if possible, I said.

Quote:
We are working on that, hopefully some files are recoverable. The disk seems to have failed mostly together, so we are mounting it as a secondary to recover files.

No RAID mirrors I guess? I got a response to my ticket on Sunday night I believe about them contacting the datacenter.

As of this posting I can not access the websites:
http://www.hostingfuze.com
http://www.vpsfuze.com

Wonder if they are hosting their sites in Scranton even though they moved most service across the country?

Posted by error10, 06-05-2012, 07:34 PM
Those sites were accessible earlier today. I don't know why they're down now.

Disks fail in RAID, but if they get corrupted that's another issue.

Another day has gone by without any sort of update from HostingFuze. I am, of course, quite disappointed.

Why haven't you packed up and moved yet?

Actually I did. But there are a few things that weren't in the backup that would be very helpful to recover. And, it seems, I'm not the only person affected here.

Tomorrow will be a week with only one ticket response.

Sorry to bring this thread back to life but I must do two things.

1. I meant the low cost of Burstnet servers in relation to their VPS prices.
2. Were you kept updated, or did you keep asking and all you ever got was 1 response?

The response from Camron Torabi above is the last I've heard on this ticket. If there is a disk recovery going on, it's been going on much longer than expected, and I haven't received any information on its progress (or lack thereof).

Well that does indeed suck. I hate being in limbo, waiting on a provider to get a problem resolved.

Same as error10, just 1 ticket response.

I had to reopen it today b/c it was marked inactive due to a lack of response from me, even though I was the last person to respond!
I realize that is an automatic feature of WHMCS but I was not happy to see it.

Further insult to injury:

I am getting emails that my service will be auto-suspended if I do not pay my monthly invoice. This is quite upsetting as I'm not 100% sure I'm paying for something I will ever get back (the data) to being with. On the other hand, I worry that if I do not pay that their billing system will automatically wipe my stuff the moment it comes back online.

It is kinda like paying a ransom when you don't even know if the person/thing you are trying to protect is still alive. Worst case scenario is you are out both the money AND the valuable(s).

I would have expected them to extend my service automatically, or put me on a temporary ignore in WHMCS for the month so that I wouldn't have to be harassed by emails during this still-unresolved issue where I have potentially lost a lot of data since March 2011.

Still no response from anyone at HostingFuze since June 3rd

The worst part of this has been the almost complete lack of communication from HostingFuze. That's not the way to run a business, at least if you want to stay in business. (And what do you think puts the diesel in your TDI?)

That's quite pathetic that they didn't respond within there own window. Just post a new ticket and every day ask to be updated so it doesn't do that.

They really should have credited everyone's accounts or something so that wouldn't happen. The good news is that they can't delete what isn't up. The bad news is that their cron job will when it comes back up. Just hope they are a smart host and they manually delete but automatically suspend.

They are probably way in over their heads. This is an issue where they may get no data. If they didn't plan for that they are basically chickens with their heads cut off until they find a solution.

Just by way of update...

In the middle of last week my VPS actually sent me an email. Unfortunately I was on vacation and didn't get to it before the VPS disappeared again. Now it no longer even shows in SolusVM. And most disturbing, I still haven't gotten any further response on my ticket. Nothing at all.
