We are currently experiencing high latency and packet loss to our servers in the ***** Toronto data center. Staff has confirmed that it appears to be an issue with one of their providers.

Yep, it is absolutely horrible all day.

Seems better now. Although there is still 10-30% packetloss to some locations around the globe, such as Vancouver, Germany and some U.S. locations, although that is normal with this host.

Last time I checked (maybe 2 months go?), ***** was single-homed. Is that still the case? If so, it's no surprise.

Even so, that is no excuse for insane packetloss across the board. I could understand slow speeds that go to double digits during peak hours, but packetloss is not acceptable. A few months ago they started out good with great speeds and just a bit of packetloss, although in the last 2 months till now, their speeds have gone down to sub 50 mbit at peak hours and huge packetloss to random locations at all times.

Worst network I have ever seen.

Same. Loss here too.

Monitoring it using smokeping from Germany, the HE toronto node shows no loss, yet servers inside ***** show loss.

Regarding to our network performance issue, we have been working very hard together with our providers in the past month to optimizing our network. There were two causes: 1. our local loop to HE was not stable, we have located this with our local loop provider and it is fixed permanently. 2. we have 30G from cogent and 10G from HE on BGP4, but traffic was always through HE during the peak hours, this congested the HE circuit, while cogent is only 50% utilization, and this was found due to the weight metric in our BGP4 is not functioning. After the most recent hardware upgrade, we are now able to setup correct weight metric so HE circuit won't be congested during peak-time. Our network now is much more stable and reliable. And we are currently working on bringing in another two+ circuits form different ISPs to increase our international Reach and enhance our network performance. KVM-IP access for every server will be available in June.
