I haven't been able to their site either. Anybody know what's going on?

Based on the packet loss, my guess is DoS attack.

Working for me, apparently had 3 min of downtime last night though.

It's down now, again, same with their site.

Your best bet is to contact them directly to see whats going on, or private message them here on WHT :\

Best of luck though

Down again here too, and had the same downtime last night.

I was wondering, where'd you get that chart from? I have a VPS at AlienVPS too; but don't see that anywhere.

It's a smokeping graph from one of the systems I use to monitor my colo servers.

AlienVPS seems to be down. (for the count?)
Same goes with the related sites alienlayer.com and webrulon.com.
Can't find recent twitter posts for them explaining the outage.

Anybody know the inside scoop on what's happening?

Posted by spaethco, 01-27-2012, 09:19 PM
No outage for my Xen VPS on node NY6.

Posted by advv, 01-27-2012, 09:26 PM
I can't access my VPS in Phoenix or the alienVPS.com and related websites for support. I guess NY is safe for now.

All the alien websites are working now, including my VPS (shrug) I probably should take it all as a warning though.

I experienced a short outage as well. I've come to learn that that is to be expected w/ AlienVPS unfortunately.

My logs only show a five-minute outage Friday on the Las Vegas node.

my VPS down too

208.93.xxx.xxx

I had a client mention AlienVPS yesterday. He didn't mention downtime and was using it to test speeds; so I presume it isn't a network-wide outage.

Mine was constantly down, causing sftp and ssh to stop working, having to constantly reset settings to get it working. When it's not down, I found it to be slow, among other problems. I knew their customer service was horrible, willing to overlook for the cheap price. Horrible idea, from the looks of it, their Xen nodes are fine, but their OpenVZ nodes are a nightmare, possibly overselling?

Anyways I've since cancelled services as the constant downtimes are unacceptable. Glad to see their customer service is still horrible. "Suspension Reason: Overdue on Payment" even though I've cancelled a few days ago.

stay away from them !

they dont offer refund, and they dont inform client about downtime

I didn't know anyone gave a refund for VPS.

I also think that some of these providers for VPS have a 14 day head notice for cancellations. Can't recall which as it has been a while. It sounded to me too much like they were trying to make sure they could get another month of services paid from you in case something went wrong.
