All,

Today we lost power on PART of one of our feeds, it happens no matter how much you spend on your infrastructure. Our Tier 4 facility is now stable and we are bringing customers online who do/did not subscribe to redundant power. In the midst of this perfect storm, we lost part of our cloud portal, which was brought back online nearly immediately (no data loss). Our network connectivity, which is one of our strongest assests, never lost a packet, as well as our storage. If customers continue to encounter support issues, please refer yourselves to our support portal and log a support request. If you dont have the URL, please IM me and I will work personally with you. GNAX realizes that customers are our most important assest and we apologize for any disruption of service.

Thank you,

-W
VP, Engineering

Fortunately your equipment was in the part not affected by the power outage. Our monitoring system reported 2h9m of downtime.

This seems to happen every year. Aren't those generators supposed to kick in when the power goes down, or did lightening strike them again?

I did not experience to untill now any problems with the servers on gnax.

Posted by FrankLaszlo, 12-06-2011, 08:05 AM
They had a very similar problem to this last year. I believe it was blamed on a lightening strike.

Posted by euronet063, 12-06-2011, 08:07 AM
as I said I had no problems untill now, ok everyone who is doing something bumps into a problem sometimes, I understand that

Posted by euronet063, 12-06-2011, 08:11 AM
I get now informatiom, dat i enter the incorrect password at the portal that is why i is locked out,and developers will look into this issue .if this is the reason why servers do not work i'm sorry for post.

the guys at gnax generally seem to be top notch in my experience, though when big stuff like this happens their support unfortunately tends to become unresponsive. sent in a ticket a few hours ago regarding network issues. still no response. i guess they are all-hands busy working on this...or perhaps not.

Posted by FrankLaszlo, 12-06-2011, 05:12 PM
The staff is generally pretty good. However, the facilities need some work. I've gone in there several times with water on the floor in the halls (leaking from the roof), even a couple times in the datacenter area.

well that's no good, but nothing a few buckets can't fix, right?

it is raining in the atl..."blame it on the rain"?

because everyone in that time is usually sending a ticket and they need to handle the tickets + the problem?

Posted by fiend, 12-06-2011, 08:16 PM
yep still down for me as well, its like almost 24hours of downtime >_< support said they were gonna send it to a engineer about 14 hours ago, its weird, why didnt they just say in the support tickets that they had a major fail and its gonna take a while to fix your stuff...

Posted by harnorno2, 12-06-2011, 11:10 PM
Agreed with SimpleSource. Their customer service was like the top, this can't be happening.

We are having network issues with the free vm networks in the freevm cluster. We are working to get these back online, please keep in mind that the paid cluster is not vulnerable to the same problems we're having on the free cluster. Please let us know if you have any questions.

Posted by ArixHost, 12-07-2011, 05:43 AM
I hope that the problem is solved as soon as that there be trust between the customer and management of hosting

Posted by fiend, 12-07-2011, 06:05 AM
@JFOC yeah like i said above, support should have just said that... not we are pushing this ticket to someone else and keeping people in the dark... and i think the only question everyone has is to have some sort of ETA on the fixes...

We are still working to get these back online. No ETA has been given. Thanks for your patience

And how to be a shure that this isues will hapend only on "free" ,gnax/netdepot ads is all over internet, and if need such long time to solve this with "free" i dont hawe big
confidence to chose gnax/netdepot,and this " please keep in mind that the paid cluster is not vulnerable" how to know is it true.

@Medulla Hosting, not to get into a rambling, but the "free" was supposed to show how good gnax was and to promote their services (in the sense that it was so good we might order more), altought not complaining, the combination of very weak performance in the first place and now this extended downtime, well lets just say i personally cant give a raving review of their hosting, im just glad i sided with caution and just had a brand new site there, so im not suffering that much with this, plus i always have offsite backups encase it never comes back... still not looking good and ill probably wont put anything else in my account in the future >_< whats the point...

Well, it is a 'free' cluster so I assume it's not as redundant as their paid one, which is currently up. You should give the paid one a try before making any decisions.

Posted by fiend, 12-07-2011, 01:40 PM
@akysolutions why should i? and that's not the point... i would point you to the offering page http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?t=1078602 and take your own opinion regarding the offer... if we were going to be put on subpar non-redundant system, i wouldn't have bothered in the first place ^_^ cause i see no mention of a free cluster but there is a lot of talk about quality hardware and redundancy...

ie still im not afraid of a bit of downtime, especially when really bad stuff happens like now, its normal with hosting, my only real problem is, that i've yet to receive word from support about this, if it wasn't for this thread i would still be in the dark... and we are almost 40hours of downtime and counting, so besides the not so good hardware/system we have no support and no timely fixes... so that is what im going to assume, you can assume whatever you want.

Posted by Medulla Hosting, 12-07-2011, 05:08 PM
i'm glad to see this before buy vclud on gnax, after see offer on http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?t=1078602 i'm not shure dat is free,i see in offer"almost free".and almost is not free for me,and again how to trust gnax after if understand more of 40 hours down time.

Posted by euronet063, 12-07-2011, 07:18 PM
