Problems with IANA Blackhole servers? (DNS)
Posted by gitman, 11-07-2011, 04:10 PM |
I've been noticing some DNS latency issues and it seems to be related to reverse lookups of the RFC1918 address space (ie. 10.x.x.x).
When running a dig +trace, it stops right at the IANA blackhole servers (blackhole-1.iana.org and blackhole-2.iana.org). Neither of these servers are responding to DNS queries when queried from one of my internet connections, but it does work from other internet connections available to me.
This seems to have started today around 12AM EST. Has anyone else noticed problems today? |

Google for AS112. This It is anycasted. You are hitting whichever AS112 anycast instance is closer to you (network wise). A traceroute should help see which instance you are reaching, not that we could do anything to fix it after that...
But you could try contacting that provider, or your upstream or... |

Good info. Looks like the ones we're having problems with are hosted by Hurricane Electric (he.net) so I just shot off an email to their support group. Hopefully they can identify and resolve the problem. |
