Ovh Blocked by US Carriers?
Posted by CymraegWalesHosting, 10-31-2011, 08:57 AM |
Hi All,
Currently in the US on business at the moment and all of a sudden the entire OVH network appears to be down for ATT (checked on mobile), T-Mobile (checked on mobile) & Comcast (wifi).
However if a i use a USA proxy, all works fine. Anyone else having issues? ovh.co.uk is the domain to check. DC to DC connection is fine, but Residential/wireless (mobile) connect to DC seems impossible.
Try ovh.co.uk
We have about 5 servers. All of which (including our businesses we are involved with) their IPs seem unreachable from the US as well.
Kind Regards, |

What is the output of a tracert? |
Posted by UNIXy, 10-31-2011, 09:05 AM |
ovh.co.uk is accessible from my BB's 3G. Perhaps this was a temporary routing issue.

Hmm it seems to that they have done something to their routers:
Code:
tracert ovh.nl
traceroute to ovh.nl (94.23.151.34), 30 hops max, 40 byte packets
1 gw-v95.xl-is.net (178.18.91.1) 0.417 ms 0.432 ms 0.445 ms
2 xl-internetservices.nikhef.openpeering.nl (217.170.0.225) 27.633 ms 27.905 ms 28.086 ms

Code:
tracert ovh.nl
traceroute to ovh.nl (94.23.151.34), 30 hops max, 40 byte packets
1 gateway.yourwebhoster.eu (178.21.20.3) 0.337 ms 0.431 ms *
2 v9.ser-dro-crs1.serverius.net (178.21.16.65) 0.478 ms 0.539 ms 0.612 ms

But I can access ovh.nl without a problem.
Check http://host-tracker.com/check_res_ajx/9085140-0/ Perhaps a network issue? |

They had switch issues a few days back. It could be they're still having some issues. |

The problem is with Level3 and GlobalCrossing in London. As USA traffic is routed (normally) via London that's the traffic that's suffering the most. We're seeing strange routes in UK and Europe using Flagtel, TATA and Seabone to get around it.
They're aware of it: http://status.ovh.co.uk/?do=details&id=2038
If you look at their Weathermap (http://weathermap.ovh.net/) there's heavier than normal traffic (the bright yellow and orange lines) heading out via Amsterdam and Frankfurt as they adjust routes to compensate.
It's a pity they haven't got their new routes working to Newark yet - This would have been an ideal time to test them! |

Actually the first issues were with Telia at approx 1pm (UK Time), 10am, FL time.
We actually made OVH aware of it about 10 minutes after first issues. Effectivily i was just checking somethings within the network we have built with OVH and we could not access it. Nor could we access the several other servers. I then tried ovh.co.uk not working.... however then used my t-mobile interconnection here to check along with ATT and would not load. Then used a proxy and worked fine.
Did a trace route of what was described above and packets hanged at Telia.
I think obviously something is going on today. First Telia (however thats ok now.) and now the problem is spread to Level3 and GlobalCrossing if your correct... Perhaps its just one of those days. |

It all looks fine again from here now. I can get a good trace on Level3 from Manchester and it goes the normal route to Roubaix.

Not sure how you managed only 3 hours difference between FL and UK - You must be suffering from a lack of bara brith and leek soup |

Your just concrating on the nitty gritty things now ... I mean 4 hours.... must have been 9am FL time. Getting confused on the recent clock change in the UK.
At least it all seems sorted now. |
