SpeedySparrow went down today for around 1 hour 30 minutes and then a second time for around 50 minutes (according to pingdom which is 3rd party) I was provided with this explianation of the issue. R1 was taking up all the RAM which OnAPP's hypervisior was using which then ment SS was unable to reboot the server normally and had to get someone to manually reboot the system, in addition they found a minor issue with RAM so replaced the faulty RAM on the server with a new RAM stick. Glad to say i got my agreement/SLA payment too. I am a very happy customer of the service, Just seems like a small bump on the onapp migration. |

Hello,
At 9:55 am EST, R1Soft commenced to eat all the RAM in the Chestnut server. This left almost no RAM of OnApp Hypervisor to run, causing the server to crash, which is the cause for this unexpected downtime.
The issue with R1Soft has been fixed. We are sorry for this downtime and we hope that it did not cause much inconvenience. If you would like to be credited for this downtime, please send a ticket into our billing department with a request for SLA credit.
Again, we are sorry for this inconvenience and are doing everything in our power to make sure that it won't happen again.
We are considering switching to another backup solution that ain't operating in the same way as R1Soft. |

What would that be? Every backup system/method uses its fair share of resources and it can't be hyped away by marketing gibberish. |

We are aware of that, but it's a question about finding the system that works best with our OnApp setup. If that's R1 or a rsync alternative, that's something we are going to be looking at more deeply after this incident. |

As it's already back up, closing this. |
