Baltic Servers Down?

Posted by markdrandall, 05-24-2011, 10:46 AM
Baltic Servers entire network seems to be dead, including their own website...

From the UK:
Code:
  1 2 ms 1 ms <1 ms 192.168.0.1
  2 1 ms 38 ms 37 ms lns14.inx.dsl.enta.net [188.39.1.14]
  3 38 ms 38 ms 37 ms gi1-4.inx.dist.dsl.enta.net [188.39.1.13]
  4 38 ms 40 ms 37 ms te2-2.interxion.dsl.enta.net [78.33.141.89]
  5 * * * Request timed out.
  6 * * * Request timed out.
  7 * * * Request timed out.
From a anther server in Netherlands:
Code:
traceroute to balticservers.com (77.79.12.17), 30 hops max, 40 byte packets
 1 hosted.by.leaseweb.com (95.211.111.124) 0.705 ms 0.756 ms 0.824 ms
 2 * * *
 3 * * *
 4 * * *
It is almost like their network has stopped existing! (We were testing them because their deals look good on dedicated servers)

The 77.79.0.0/20 IP address block is normally announced out of AS25406, but it completely disappeared from the global routing table at about 15:17 UK time.

I can't currently see anything being announced out of AS25406 in any of our BGP feeds, so it looks like a major network outage.

Yup, we saw the BGP re-announcements from AS25406 literally as you posted.

Should be interesting to find out how they became completely isolated from the internet...

Hello,

It was caused by technical problems. Our shareholders message: http://www.etaplius.lt/Aktualijos/S-...ga-jau-atkurta

English translation:

by the international Internet service providers hardware failure on Tuesday evening we had downtime. Currently internet services and all services working fine.

We apologize for any problems incurred.

40000 internet users were down... and we too
