GenVPS not loading?

Posted by Aaronn, 03-17-2011, 05:37 PM
Is it just me or is it like not loading?

Posted by TmzHosting, 03-17-2011, 05:44 PM
Correct. Their website is down. I think genvps has an account here. He will probably explain what is going on.

Do you have a VPS there?

Looks like their server may be offline completely.

Code:
# ping genvps.com
PING genvps.com (76.73.95.82): 56 data bytes
Request timeout for icmp_seq 0
Request timeout for icmp_seq 1
Request timeout for icmp_seq 2
It's not loading here as well.

Hopefully their clients are not affected.

Hey Aaron, Our clients do not appear to be affected, but our site was DDoSed.

We are currently working on it and hope our site to be up and running again soon.

It looks that its working fine now, but I really hate the people doing Ddos attacts on sites.

Mine is online, i'm guessing its been fixed... running slower now though

Posted by iJake, 03-22-2011, 10:15 AM
Very sorry for the delayed reply.
What happened was:-

We were warned about having a bad drive on one of our nodes RAID array, which was investigated by our system admin crew. We had this investigated by our DC and planned a time for this to be replaced and rebuilt. What happened was, because of the bad drive, the server was locked into a read-only state and we had to act fast in order to replace the bad drive and rebuild the RAID array.

The whol process took several hours, however, the RAID array was successfully rebuilt without any loss of data in the process.

This had a bad effect on the people we care most about, our clients. We are currently discussing ways to make up for this, such as a considerable discount off their next invoice, though those affected will receive an email with further details in the near future.

Once again, we cannot apologies enough for this. This is very rare and we don't expect something like this to happen again any time soon.

Regards

Hello Digg,

If you're VPS appears to be running slow, I suggest you open a ticket so we can take a look at this. We haven't had any other reports of this nature.

Good job, Jake!

Glad you were able to get everything back up, and showing that you care about your clients. Over-looking your site it says you provide a credit for the downtime, Was this issued out to the clients that where effected?

Our site was down for a very short amount of time (approx 3minutes) after we had made some essential security updates.

If you are having other issues with your VPS, then please use our helpdesk which is now online.

Thank you
