WANSecurity Problems in LA
Posted by srider, 02-06-2011, 11:26 AM |
Noted on Stupor Bowl Sunday between 6 and 7 AM PST (GMT-8) that my dedicated server provided by WANSecurity in LA was unable to make outgoing connections, although all locally hosted content/pages were fine.
I found that neither of the name resolvers configured in /etc/resolv.conf seemed to be online.
I added a few working DNS servers and normal behavior resumed on my box.
Attempting to connect to https://customer.wansecurity.net/ fails.
Attempted email to support@wansecurity.net fails with no route to host.
So it goes. |

Today we suffered an outage of the web support portal, and DNS server due to a hardware issue.
It has come to our attention that you may not have received a maintenance email on 1/27/2011 requesting that you update your DNS server IP addresses to the following:
Primary: 199.47.192.253
Secondary: 199.47.194.253
Please ensure that you have updated your DNS properly whereas we continue to experience a random unknown hardware related issue on the system hosting our support server, and DNS server. We have replaced various hardware in the system twice however this issue still resurfaces. We have ordered a complete new hardware system to replace the current system and this is scheduled to be installed early next week.
Please note that no loss of network connectivity was experienced by any customer and that our phone and other support systems continued to operate as expected.
