Anyone else have a VPS with akisoft.co.uk? Mine had been flawless since September, but it stopped responding this morning. Somewhat alarmingly, there no longer seems to be a website at http://akisoft.co.uk/ I did receive a response to my email about the outage, but so far the VPS is not back up yet. |

So, I've finally managed to get to the root of the problem!
First, I'll start with the reason why there's been a delay in resolving this. It appears that no one actually emailed our support team, there is an email to the sales team, but when sales went to forward the email to support, it seems it was forwarded to the person overall responsible (who's away over Christmas).
When I finally realised this, I contacted the appropriate people to try and get this sorted. Given that we no longer provide VPS hosting (and have roughly 6/7 remaining customers on our previous test package), isolating the cause for the node being down was pretty simple.
We're seeing what looks to be a hardware issue and are attempting to get this resolved. If we are unable to get this back up with your data on it, we'll be providing all remaining clients a full refund (from the start of their service term, not pro-rated), if we're able to get it up -with- your data, we'll pro-rate you a refund equivalent to the start of your term, till the time we get it up.
I can only apologise for this downtime to our few remaining VPS clients, if you feel that you deserve additional compensation beyond what we've offered, please email me on hallie@udesign.me and we'll try to work something out for you.
For those clients still unaware, we've rebranded to udesign.me - though the emails on akisoft.co.uk will still function until the end of 2011. |

Currently attempting to retrieve data.
Edit: Given the point in time we're at, if we're not up within 24 hours, we'll be providing a full refund and potentially providing compensation assistance to help people move to new providers. |

I'm sorry to say that following the recent downtime on our recent VPS range, we're unable to recover your data and sadly to say, moving on from this; we will no longer be offering VPS hosting services as a part of our product lineup.
We've been running this service at a loss from day one and re-implementing it is not something that we can consider economically viable.
What this means is that you'll be receiving a full refund for your service (we will not be charging you for service from September to now), along with a token amount of compensation that we are currently deciding on, to help you find a new hosting provider.
Unless otherwise requested, your refund will be processed via the method you originally used to pay.

Pretty honest I would say. Although the issue is pretty serious but at least the host came up and explained in clear words what happened and issuing refunds. |
