Velocity Servers / Colocrossing Down?

Posted by Sandino, 08-01-2010, 04:31 PM
Can someone double check this for me? It seems all their websites are down without warning. (And my server too! -- in Chicago DC).

Does anyone know if they are having some problems?

Posted by JonBiloh, 08-01-2010, 04:37 PM
The problem is the result of a routing loop upstream and we're working on it now. Should be resolved rapdily.

Posted by Sandino, 08-01-2010, 04:40 PM
Okay great thanks for letting me know!.

Posted by JonBiloh, 08-01-2010, 04:45 PM
As of about 5 minutes ago total service has been restored.

Posted by Sandino, 08-01-2010, 04:46 PM
Everything seems to be backup and running like normal.

Thanks ColoCrossing! By the one of the best companies I have ever dealt with!.

Posted by JonBiloh, 08-01-2010, 04:53 PM
There are some residual issues which we're still resolving.

Posted by Sandino, 08-01-2010, 05:32 PM
Ah okay. Yeah seems to be going on and off (or atleast it did a few times).

Hope it gets resolved soon!

Can't complain though, this has been the first downtime i've had with you guys (that wasn't my own fault).

Seems back up now?

Hopefully they fixed the issues.

I hate when you fix something and more issues come

Seems ServerCentral is having issues as a whole here in Chicago. Our nLayer link seems perfectly fine, but can't reach PeeringDB or any of the other things I know they host here locally. Anyone have any details on what is going on exactly?

ServerCentral/nLayer certainly has top-rate gear and top-rate engineers, so this is the type of outage that actually concerns me as a separate network. Is there some form of attack or general Internet related issue causing this that I need to worry about, maybe a Juniper bug of some sort, or?

Indeed, according to Jon it's nLayer related. Only had 1 other issue with nLayer before which was in Atlanta but that was months back.

Ah I see, thanks for the update.
Almost two hours now of websites going up and down. (Monitors are going crazy) lol.

It is 100% nLayer.. Even http://nlayer.net does not respond @ 5:04 PM CDT.

Posted by Sandino, 08-01-2010, 06:32 PM
just an update for everyone.
i spoke with colocrossing and they said everything seems to be back up, but SCNet / nLayer has not officially told them that the issue has been permanently resolved.

so they will update me when they know for sure.

We are still working with nLayer / Server Central, as the issues are on their end. We will continue to update this thread and will send RFO notices to all clients once everything is back to normal.

Posted by JonBiloh, 08-01-2010, 06:59 PM
We've been back up for about 45 minutes now but I don't want to called it "fixed" until things are 100% confirmed.

Posted by Sandino, 08-01-2010, 07:00 PM
Okay, just was notified that the issue has now been solved.

ColoCrossing will be sending an RFO later on today.

Issues are continuing, we will send an RFO once everything is back to 100% normal.

We've also had issues with SCNet/nLayer today.

Like how his sig disappeared and shows no sign of editing.

Things were going great until a few minutes ago.
Does anyone know if it's occurring again?

Posted by avizzle, 08-01-2010, 10:53 PM
Issues are persisting at this time. As stated before, once 100% of the issues have been resolved we will supply the RFO to all customer inboxes.

Ah okay. I was told before it was over.
Thanks for letting me know

Hope it's fixed soon

For about 70 minutes things have been stable. We'll be watching this all night.

This most recent, brief problem, was the result of further Server Central problems.
