DMEHosting: Catastrophic Outage? Again?
Posted by tblank1, 06-20-2010, 04:09 PM |
Anyone know what's going on at DMEHosting? I get absolutely no DNS resolution for any of the 5 domains I'm hosting there. Their server status page shows everything red.
Live Chat for support is OFFLINE (as it is every time I need it). The phone number rings twice and disconnects. Trouble tickets are unanswered....
Does anyone else here use them and if so are you having problems. This is the second major outage for me in 6 days.
I know that DMEHosting is active in these forums. Maybe he'll see this and respond... |

Well, it seem they are online on LiveChat at the moment, you should give a try. |

thanks for the glimmer of hope, but alas...
"There are no operators available at the moment. Please submit a ticket to get into contact with us." |

You may try contacting them at this number 602-309-3658.
*The number was gathered from WHOIS info on the domain name and is different than the numbers on the website.
I hope you will be able to get in touch with them. |

I use DME and I am having no problems at all! Everything is working great for me. Could be my cache but I don't think so, http://www.mainebeachtennis.com |

Every host has outages and could be for multiple reason's so it's understandable. As for them not responsing to your ticket's (what is there response time guarantee?)How long has it been?
Also for phone support do they offer 24/7 phone support? If not then you cant blame them for not answering, also did you call during business hour's?.
How ever it is not good when your site's are down and you have no contact with your host nor do they make contact with you. Keep us updated and im sure they will sort this out for you. |

What location are you located in, maybe one of their datacenters they use have an outage.
I'm sure DMEHosting will check this thread soon and show their side of the story. |

4 hours after submitting my initial trouble ticket they closed the ticket with this message:
Quote:
Corrupt OS, we are trying to fix it. We may try to move everyone to a new setup with Enkompass control panel since DotNetPanel is EOL.
|
That was about 6 hours ago, so the continuing outage is now 10 hours and still counting. I understand that recovering from an issue like this can take some time but I have to say I'm not reassured by the slow response and minimal communication. I also take issue with closing a trouble ticket before the issue is resolved.
One more thing, I can't tell if it's a server issue or not. All I can see from where I'm at is that even trying nslookup against multiple dns servers, dns won't resolve for any of my domains that are being hosted at DME. (like annhunt.net & reefrealtycr.com) |

24+ hours and counting... |

Did they reply to your support ticket with anything yet? Or it's still open with zero response? |
Posted by tblank1, 06-21-2010, 11:55 PM |
If you look earlier in this thread you'll see DME's response. Now it's 36+ hours and counting and I got a 3rd helpful response:
Quote:
Hello,
"I'm passing this on to the correct department to better resolve your issue".
|
This is totally surreal - over 36 hours and I still can't access my 4 sites! |

They use FDC? Really?
Hmm I'll buy a server and steal there address space on FDCs super secure network! |

Sorry to hear about your poor experience with DMEHosting. Do you have backups of your websites? If so, I'd recommend that you ust go ahead and take your business elsewhere |

48 hours & counting... still no status updates or eta for resolution.
yes I have backups (except for 1 wordpress mysql db) |

You may wait for little more, as they might have a serious outage on their server hardware or OS. |

I would consider moving hosts...Just my opinion. Find one that will suit you.
Edit: Have they given any response? If not, then my opinion above stands, otherwise if they explained it to you I would post that here as Im curious to what they have to say. |

I think they are having a serious outage and will be trying to fix it soon. But no response to your tickets it's really frustrating. If your site is so important and you cannot afford downtimes like these I would consider moving to another. |

Not surprising, David's not answering his phone and his inbox too full to take my message. |

It's not that it's SO important, but without any communication I can't make an informed decision as to what to do. If I were given a reasonable expectation when and if they might be able to restore the sites, I could decide whether to pack it all in and get a new host or to wait it out. |

I understand your position, but according the FDC Server thread, it appears FDC is doing the same thing to their customers with canned response giving no ETA either, so it is difficult to give you an answer when they don't have an answer themselves. I am a bit surprised that DME hasn't responded to this thread though. He must have seen it, because he has posted to other threads during this outage. |

I still don't understand. All my sites function properly. My cPanel is fine. The server is located in Denver. Not sure if they have all servers in one Datacenter. |

I don't understand either. But now I'm finally getting some communication from them. They're having me rebuild the roots of my sites so they can do a restore of the data. This is somewhat reassuring after almost 2.5 days of virtually nil communication. |

Wasn't DMEHosting a burst reseller last year, did they switch? |

Yeah that is kind of strange, you would think they more clients would be posting here if was a network outage. Maybe it just a server issue. Who knows it just pure speculation on our part.
Good see that DME is finally communicating with the client |
Posted by TheChemist, 06-22-2010, 08:43 PM |
I have never had a problem with communications with them. I should have tried to get a hold of them as well for the OP as I hate when my sites are down. I know how it feels.
I wonder, did they mention anything about a partial refund? |
Posted by FernGullyGraphics, 06-22-2010, 11:27 PM |
Yikes 48 hours and counting? Have they at least acknowledged the issue? |
Posted by tblank1, 07-01-2010, 01:04 PM |
1.5 weeks later and I'm partially restored. MySQL server won't allow connections. Support tickets are taking around 1 - 3 days for a response. They'll respond asking me a further question and I'll reply within minutes. Then they won't respond until several days later. I'm not getting anywhere with them. This is the worst support experience I've had since I started working with hosting companies around 1995. |
Posted by Stream101, 07-01-2010, 03:39 PM |
That sounds really strange. Personally, I would move hosts because of my frustration. If I were you, however, I would wait for the site to be restored, get the backup moved over, then cancel. Then again, that is what I would do. |

I have one open support ticket that's gone completely unanswered since 6/27. This morning (7/3) they closed the ticket with this message:
"This is a notification to let you know that we are changing the status of your ticket #862846 to Closed as we have not received a response from you in over 48 hours."
Word to the wise for anyone considering hosting with DMEHosting. |

Yikes, sorry to hear about your troubles, have you started looking for a new host? |

Today I bought a vps in dmehosting, datacenter France. I got all the data for a vps, but he does not ping, I did reboot, reload, and did not help. I wrote to support, but let's silent response |

Strange. I thought these guys were active on WHT and had a good reputation. |
