Hosting50.com is down

Posted by Tilen, 06-02-2010, 02:58 AM
Just noticed today that none of my websites, hosted at Hosting50.com work.

So far, I had no problems with this hosting provider (for the past 6 months), no downtime, always a great support and likely one of my favorite hosting providers, so I don't know what to think about it?

Anyone else hosting some websites over there and having the same problems?

Regards,

Tilen

I can see that they are hacked. I was with them for the first month and then decided to not go with them after the slow support service.

Here is the image of the website: http://img13.imageshack.us/img13/108...ng50hacked.png

@Farisworlds - thanks, that gotta be it than

waiting time for me then

Posted by tazandpig, 06-02-2010, 05:12 AM
To be honest, I've found their support to be quite responsive when I've needed it - usually waiting no more than a few minutes.

In this instance, however, there couldnt be a stronger sign that their security obviously leaves something to be desired.

Obviously, emails to them asking for an update are either not being received and/or responded to.

I hate it when this kind of thing happens. But I'm not going to jump all over them - service up until now has, in my eyes, been excellent and this kind of thing can happen even to the 'big boys'.

I hope they get it sorted out quickly. Too late for me sadly. I'm already shifting elsewhere. Thank goodness for backups, eh? I hope others were sensible and had backups too.

Looks like their billing support area is working https://billing.hosting50.com/clientarea.php

With their main site still displaying the 'Hacked' page, the only reason I'd be accessing their billing portal would be to remove any personal and payment info until such time as it's made MUCH more secure.

Hmmm. Have you tried logging in to the client area? I suspect not as it doesn't work!

STILL no communication from Hosting50 themselves, despite contacting them at least 3 times.

STILL unable to access (log in to) the client area.

NOTHING from Hosting50 at all - no emails, no announcements, nothing - which is nothing short of very disappointing.

Interestingly, I received an invoice from them this morning for the next month's service. I think it goes without saying that they'd need to do something miraculous to receive anything further from me (answering an email or giving some kind of explanation at this very late stage would not count as miraculous!).

The lack of communication - of any sort - with customers after something like this is nothing short of disgraceful.

Thsi sucks no support at all.

I can login to my account thru cpanel and the ip. Only problem is that I am using their nameservers. The namesever tables for my domain seemed to be deleted so my domain does not resolve to the right ip.

This realy means this company does not seem to have their act together, no backups ? No responce ? Stay away.

Cron jobs automatically sends invoices to all customer so it is not really their fault. The is the problem signing up with new companies. You should go for well known company or those who have been in business for quite some time.

You are right but what about the following about your company:

PrestonHost was founded on December 27, 2009 We offer premium web-hosting, Reseller Hosting and Master Reseller solutions brought to you with premium servers. Our servers are based out of Florida(US and Los Angeles(US).

Seems you have been in business for 6 month's. given your advice we should not use your company as it's not been in business for quite some time ?

You are getting totally off topic. I did not mention in this thread for anyone to sign up to my company and I did not give a single advise. That is just my reply and comment.

I'd be quite interested in knowing - now that a good deal of time has passed - if anyone has actually managed to contact Hosting50?

The silence from them speaks volumes. Much more than any criticism I could make.

Ignoring all communications from clients and leaving them in the dark like this is completely unforgivable.

Posted by Tilen, 06-03-2010, 09:22 AM
I agree, ignorance towards clients is something I will never understand when comes to webhosting.

You are right you are not telling anyone to your service. It's just you webhosting details are below every post you post. I just check your webiste and it made me lauch that you would give a good advice to use a well know company or one that has been in business for some time. You advice would tell anyone not to use your service since you have not been in business for a long time.

Tried to contact hosting50 again, no responce. Seems like I have to do a chargeback if that's possbile. I just used them for some websites I only use for getting better rank in google, not my main site.

Indeed I would adivce anyone to do a good check. Companies that don't have a phone number are mostly not the most reliable ones. And yes only 6 month in business is not not always good but can be.

Despite trying (and failing) numerous times to get a response from Hosting50 AND trying and failing to log in to the client/billing area, I today ended up registering as a 'new' client - just so that I could submit a support ticket.

Interestingly, I received the following response!

"Hello,

We are not ignoring the customers, every ticket placed here it is responded."

I've once again pointed out to them that I find this very strange as myself I have emailed at least 4 times and received no response. I also pointed out that existing clients are having difficulty actually logging in to submit tickets in the first place - hence me creating a new account in order to do so.

Anyway, just thought I'd update on this and let you know that I've suggested that Hosting50 visit this thread and leave a response/explanation here for all to see.

It remains to be seen if they actually do so. I'd be quite interested in knowing what they have to say for themselves and what their explanation for the lack of communication with clients may be - so far, there's been nothing. Not even an apology.

Taking my domains elsewhere, this seems to be another 1 man home operated service that only has time in the evening.

Posted by bbob1970, 06-07-2010, 03:42 PM
the german ip where my account was located doesn't work anymore. Luckily I downloaded a copy and installing it elsewhere now.

Forget this company, if they have not gone out of business they will be soon. No support means no customers in the end.

Posted by Tilen, 06-08-2010, 01:37 AM
yeah, doesn't work.. AGAIN!!!

Posted by bbob1970, 06-08-2010, 04:37 AM
Had 3 domains, 2 addon installed and wow they work...... work I Get a standard page my website is gone. My main domain still does not resolve.

This company should simply just stop offering hosting as they seem to have no clue. No backups in case something happens.

Posted by bbob1970, 06-11-2010, 09:47 AM
Have switched to antother hosting. Did notice that my domains were resolving on a new hosting server at hosting 50, this time located in NL instead of Germany. But no responce by mail or here in the forum. Can't login to my account.

So plain and simple this company steals money and should be banned here.

Same here - already switched to hosting elsewhere.

I feel very, very let down by Hosting50. They appeared very promising at first.

As you also said, the lack of any kind of response from them here - despite practically begging them for some info - and the complete lack of any response to emails is a disgrace.

I'm wondering just how many have been affected by this.

I'd think it's pretty obvious by now that no answers will be forthcoming.

I managed to get a hold of "P. Paul" on chat the other day (I had to register on their site as a 'new client' to do so) and pointed out that this thread existed and had a few people waiting for answers. I also pointed out that clients were unable to log in to the client area.

I also asked him to visit here and let people know what was going on, or, at the very least provide some method for existing clients to actually log in to the client area.

His response? He wasn't interested.

Given what's gone on so far - and the complete lack of concern for his clients - I'm rather surprised the moderators haven't yet looked into this and/or banned him from WHT - especially considering that they are still advertising here on WHT for new clients.

Isn't Hosting50.com ran by Paul Pintiliescu?
Does he have an account here at WHT?

Posted by TallTree, 06-12-2010, 09:10 PM
Thought I should share this:
I subscribed to the German located Reseller server but apparently I am on the Holland one without being asked nor being notified.

Just for everyone's awareness, my firewall says the domain hosting50.com is infected with a virus "HTML/Crypted.Gen".

Your post can really scare people away... Can you post a screen shot?

I think your Av is showing this because this site ask you if you will allow "Remote Data Services Data Control" by microsoft....

Attached is the screen shot..

There are numerous posts around the web stating that it would be wise (very wise) to stay away from any site displaying this - it's purely the means to install an exploit.

I have to say that things look like they are on the downward spiral for Hosting50.

Is he still advertising ? Well that will stop soon if enough people start to complain in every new add he makes.

Hi, guys.
Just try to connect ftp and/or cPanel with 188.95.48.95 address. Than make a full backup of your hosting with backup wizard from cPanel and download it via ftp asap. I already made it. It works! And, of course, this host must be closed and changed as soon as possible.
