Slow transatlantic ping through cogent

Hi everyone,
Since last week i am having problems with the connection to my server in US.
After some investigation i found out these..
If the traceroute includes cogentco the ping reply varies between 200 ms and 4500 ms.
If it doesn't include cogent nodes ping reply is below 200ms.
I have this sluggish ping reply confirmed from Germany / Russia / Turkey, although intra-US ping is fine.
My datacenter doesn't answer me in detail.
Is there anyone else having such problem? |

Your problem is Cogent. I recommend using a Cogent-free web host. |

Do you get these same latencies via the ping command when going through cogent? |

I just used Cogent's looking glass to ping a few of my servers in the US from their London location and latency is < 200ms in all cases. I did confirm they all used Cogent's backbone all the way to the USA. A router/hop may be showing higher latency from time to time due to routing table updates.
Would you care to share some of your traceroutes? |
