Enom DNS Server Outage?

Are you effected by a possible outage of enom's DNS servers today?
We noticed on clients domain names with dns hosted at enom.
Could only find people on twitter talking about it, http://twitter.com/search?q=enom |

yes, my main domain (protollix.com) is being affected by this. I have received two notices today that my main server has become unavailable (by domain). The server itself is up and all other domains on it are fully accessible. But using the server's FQDN didn't resolve.
Both periods lasted less than 4 minutes.
I suppose I should state that one of my subdomains is still not resolving: portal.protollix.com |

Down, or mostly down, since about 9:45 AM. Two hours with no official word yet. Everyone who calls gets a busy signal. |

Yes, my domains using Enom's DNS are not working, their DNS servers seems to fail this morning. |

**** you enom. Seriously. ALL FIVE NAMESERVERS are down for SEVERAL HOURS SEVERAL TIMES a year. What the **** you are doing? |

yeah! some of my friends can access, but I think it's ISP DNS cache. |

Three of the 5 eNom nameservers have been responding for a bit now, so they seem to be getting the attack under control. They've finally started posting info to http://www.twitter.com/enom too. |

yup... I think they have fixed all the major issues.. All my websites are up now. |

Ouch. Never hurts to have 5 or even 6 dns servers if your registrar supports that many. I like to use everydns as a backup.
If your primary nameservers don't support pushing to slave nameservers (which everydns can act as), just duplicate the records there (and serials if possible). |

They are really doing a good job overall in providing DNS services for that many domain names for really no fee.
DNS is becoming more and more of a pain with DDOS attacks. There are still many good free alternatives. But if you are not happen with the free approach, you may just need to do it yourself or outsource it.
Overall... Enom does seem to have more downtime then GoDaddy does on DNS. |

So there are registrars out there who charge you an extra fee to use their DNS server if you register a domain with them?
By the way, eNom charges $4 a year if you host an external domain with them. |
