THENYNOC LA VPS down?

Posted by hypernoob, 12-10-2009, 06:02 PM
We have a VPS with thenynoc.com and it has been down for the last three days.

Have submitted a support ticket, but there seems to be a very long waiting time for a support response.

Is there anyone else in the same boat?

read in another thread that they are closing down their LA presence.

hypernoob, sorry to tell you, but LA not down - gone.
They did email me with an offer to move me elsewhere - but no response since.

I too have received the email. They did begin to migrate but HyperVM is still showing that the migration is in progress. Has been for three days now.

Lets hope they have the data still intact.

NYNOC Inc. LA Location Closing

If you do not have services with us in Los Angeles, then this email does not apply to you and can be discarded. If you do have services with us in Los Angeles, please read more below.

As of December 10th, we will be discontinuing our Los Angeles hosting services due to issues with our current LA service provider. We would like to keep you as a client still so we are offering to move your account to our New York location as well as discount your current fee by 25% on your renewal of services with us.

We realize this is a small time frame to move but it is the time frame the provider just gave us minutes ago as they are not cooperating with us.

Please accept our sincerest apologies for this issue and we hope you will accept our offer to move to our NY location.

If you have any questions, please feel free to open a support ticket. *Do not reply to this email as it does not get checked*

Thank you for your time.

I received the email on Mon, Dec 7, 2009 at 1:35 PM. Three days before the plug is pulled? Glad I don't have anything hosted at that location. Can you imagine going away for a week and finding out all of your clients websites have been unavailable for several days? Then, you have to restore from a backup to a new VPS, change over DNS settings, etc. Wow.

Quite a shame and I now question my decision to renew with them for another year. I'm pretty sure they had boxes at PacificRack which, in my experience, has been a wonderful company to work with. I'm curious as to why something this drastic would have happened?

Regards,
Jerret

If I have to guess, I would say billing/financial issues. Can't think of any other reason.
