Sales done through ebay.

customer support portal at hostingevolved.net

AKA verygoodserver.org
Servers reside in the WiredTree data center in Chicago
Has been up and down for the past several days (more down).

Their e-mail support has been unresponsive for several days and may have gone belly up.

Does anyone have any information on this company.

The websites you referenced are functional. If 1 server is down it's not a network outage. Poor support perhaps if they aren't answering.

You would be better off asking ahead of time for references on a company rather then buying off ebay and asking questions later. Perhaps ask in the dedicated server section.

Last I heard they were closing permanently on Dec 24th and advised all customers to backup and move (nice christmas present, eh?).

This is the email they sent:

Subject: Hosting Evolved Services Ending

Body:
You are receiving this email as you currently have an active hosting service with us. Due to an large number of recent problems and lack of profits, as well as numerous other factors, we have decided to end our hosting services.

We realise this will impact on your current hosting accounts and this email is to provide satisfactory warning so that you have time to move to another hosting provider. The below details all the details you will NEED to know regarding our services ending.

=========================================

WHEN: Depending on the server you are hosted on, the service end date is different. Your hosting server end date has been listed below -

Server6 end date: 24th December, 2009

Server7 end date: 28th December, 2009

HOW: Once your date above is reached, the server will go offline & all hard drives will be erased. You will no longer be able to host any websites through us.

What should I do now?: It is recommended that you move to another host before your service end date if you wish to keep your websites online. To be safe, ensure that all websites are backed up and moved 2 days before the service end date. Backups for individual websites can be made through 'cPanel'>'Backup'>'Full Backup', which can then be downloaded or transfered through to an FTP account. If you are unfamiliar with backup practices, or have an large amount of accounts, it is recommended to use an host who can transfer your websites (accounts) for you.

SSH access may be required by your new host to proceed with the website(s) transfer. Simply open an ticket on our support center and we can activate this on your reseller account.

I have paid ahead for my service: We understand that some clients may have already paid for hosting for a period after when our services will end. Due to this, if you have an "NEXT DUE DATE" more than 14 days after the service end date, please open a ticket with our BILLING department immediately to receive your partial refund (depending on amount paid/days left) within 48 hours.

I have an existing invoice due, should I pay it?: No you should not pay any invoices that are due on your account. Shortly, we will be deleting any outstanding invoices on the client area. Even if your payment is due before the 'service end date', your account will be kept online (active) until that time.

I have an active subscription with you, what do I do?: If you currently have an active PayPal subscription with us, you will need to ensure you CANCEL any such subscriptions through your PayPal account to ensure no future payments are sent. If you require help with this, please contact our billing team immediately.

What about my domain reseller account?: If you currently have an domain reseller with us, there is no need to worry about it. Since the domain reseller is seperate to our hosting services, it will continue to operate and work fine. You will also still be able to purchase additional funds through the domain reseller. If you have any further questions about this, contact our support team immediately.

HELP! I have other important questions: Any further questions should be directed to our support center. If you have any billing enquires, please ensure you open an ticket for the billing department. Server support problems, unless urgent - are not likely to be dealt with as the service is going offline shortly. However, SSH access and related questions will be answered by the support team promptly.

=========================================

We thank you for hosting with us, and hope you have enjoyed doing so. We apologise for such an prompt shut down, and hope you manage to find a satisfactory new hosting provider. Feel free to open an ticket with our support department if you would like recommendations on new hosting providers.

Kind Regards,
Hosting Evolved Team
