hostpolice.com unavailable

hostpolice.com has been down for over 16 hours, can you let your customers know whats happening?

Posted by DesignBear, 09-02-2009, 09:14 AM
You'd be best contacting the company directly via one of the support methods they gave you, you're not guaranteed a response here.

If their site is down, you can be pretty sure their SMTP is probably down too so I'd stick to using a telephone number if you have one for them.

Thanks for the info everyone. Unfortunately the only way to contact is through their WHMCS support via their domain. Still down......

Just recived this from hivelocity (very nice people)..............

I hope you are well. This server client has been suspended from the network due to Abuse violations of our Acceptable Use policy. You will need to contact the owner of this reseller for further details and updates on whether or not they will be allowed to go back online.

I really don't think there is a lot we can do. I have started transferring my backups to a new host already, unfortunately the backups are a few days old.

Posted by bigfox25, 09-02-2009, 07:09 PM
good idea but now i have clients what can i do with they sites?

Posted by bobbyrabbit, 09-02-2009, 07:22 PM
Unless you have full cPanel backups, those sites have gone. You could offer the clients free accounts on the new server and see what happens, they are more likely to have backups of basic sites, but if the sites are using a MySQL DB regularly, they're probably going to lose data.

I have used 2 of these cheaper web hosting companies in the last week and the downtime has been totally unacceptable (understatement), if you are hosting clients use reputatable hosting companies and be prepared to pay much more than these companies were selling reseller accounts for.

Man, I am reading this and I am just beside myself. The good thing is that Hivelocity contacted you back and filled you in, but unfortunately it appears that there is nothing you can do without a phone number.

I would just keep checking their site. Once they are back up I would just ask Hivelocity for a VPS if you don't have a big server. At least you can have faith that all will go well and it won't take much to move everything to someone more reliable.

Best of luck!

I have no backups now. What can I do about that?

Start writing an apology?

The golden rule of internet publishing: If you care about it, back it up. If you don't care enough about it to back it up, don't expect anyone else to either.

I assume this host up and left then? I'm not a client but reading the WHT ramblings would seem to imply this.

That or he's stuck in class and will be able to respond later

LOL!! Yes I would guess we won't be seeing anymore of hostpolice. I'm going to keep an eye on the site, if it re-appears, I'll let you know, then backup and run. I only had backups because I'd had similar a experience with another reseller a few days ago, their service and uptime was poor so I backed up and run to hostpolice.

A classic case of out of the frying pan and into the fire.

i think they will be back just as soon as my money back guarantee expires, man that sucks!

Posted by SenseiSteve, 09-03-2009, 03:27 PM
Wow. This just underscores the importance of backups once again.

Posted by cisco007, 09-03-2009, 03:28 PM
good thing for me i was just getting started!

Their servers are DOWN TOTALLY!
I paid HostPolice for nothing, i can't even ask for a refund coz their stupid mail server down. Damn

Don't host your site with HostPolice, or they will send your site into a grave

I love the idea. It's always best to start with apology but I warn you...if you stated you would do backups in your TOS but didnt...your clients will flip!!! lol

I just checked and it looks as though Host Police got busted!!! The site is not loading at all. (that is usually a bad sign) checked the cached version of the site and even that looks bad!!! You may have to get a new host my friend

HostPolice is great but somtimes the ticket replies are slow.
Downtimes were caused by Hivelocity

So i dont think theres problem with HostPolice

Posted by starcom, 09-04-2009, 09:16 AM
I didnt get you.....Whats the role of Hivelocity here...how do they relate to hostpolice

Posted by cpoalmighty, 09-04-2009, 09:23 AM
They may have a reseller account there (thats the impression I got)

Posted by TremorHost, 09-04-2009, 09:30 AM
There renting a server off Hivelocity it was shut down due to one of the vps hosted on hostpolice server was sending spam. So have patience hope your issues get resolved and good luck

They'll need the datas back online first before they can do any migrations.

Hostpolice...don't you think it would be a good idea to update your clients now your website is backup. I'm sure not everyone of your clients read through these forums.
