Ubiquity servers datacenter being attacked (again)?
Posted by kmching2, 07-12-2009, 05:33 AM |
Our site is unbearably slow and even their sites can't be accessed (e.g. my.ubiquityhosting.com and www.ubiquityservers.com), and most of the datacenter IPs they gave us earlier don't reply to ping (although these could have changed).
The network problems have actually been going on for the last few days already.
Not sure if it is an attack on their infrastructure, but if I recall correctly a while back they also had some kind of massive outage... http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showth...light=ubiquity
[NOTE TO MODERATOR: I think I better change the title to "Ubiquityservers datacenters down?" to avoid any misleading implication... but I can't seem to do it on my end. |

Maybe they have a maintenance going on? |

I called them about 2 hours ago and spoke with a support tech. He confirmed the issue, and said they had network engineers working on the problem. |

They do appear to be mostly back up now. Still seeing a tiny bit of packetloss (1 to 2 %), but sites and servers are responding now. |

We had a complete outage from 2:30 AM to 5:40 AM, though members reported access problems from about 12:50 AM to ~6 AM.
Plenty of worse times to have an outage, at least.
I still say they need to make a redundant support network. |

They just posted this to their support site:

Website won't load, slowness problems etc.
We experienced networking issues earlier today at our Chicago location, in which affected our support system as well. This was due to another DDOS attack on large scale, but we have now mitigated it and all services are fully functional now. Sorry for the inconvenience!

We're very sorry for the inconvenience. We do have www.ubiquitystatus.com which is hosted in Dallas rather than Chicago, which stayed up for the duration of this morning's attacks, as did our phone systems. |

It partially depends on your Chicago network, though. Could also use your contact info, rather than having to go through a cache. |
