PowWeb down yet again?

Posted by sremick, 07-11-2009, 04:10 AM
Is PowWeb down yet again, or is it just me?

Good thing I'm finally moving away from them, but I'm not done yet!

If Endurance folds before I have time to transfer my data I'm going to be pissed.

Yeah, it's not opening on my computer too.

PowWeb is fine from here. www.powweb.com at least.

Are your sites or the PowWeb site offline?

A tracert to powweb.com ends fine, with the exception of one timeout.

Yeah it just came back up.

But all my sites, including *.powweb.com were all down for a while.

Did you tried to contact their support team?

While it was down? Yes... except because www.powweb.com was down, I couldn't try the online chat and I didn't have their phone # handy to call.

It came back after a bit but still, was kind of odd to see EVERYTHING down, and for more than just a moment. Just another good reason I'll be moved on to a new host by the end of the week (hopefully). I just need them to stay up long enough to complete the transfer. After that, they can continue to go down the toilet like they have been for the last few years for all I care.

Have they given you a reason for the downtime yet? Might be worth putting in a support ticket with them to ask.

http://downforeveryoneorjustme.com/ - A good site to see if websites are down.

Ah, the pleasures of PowWeb. Let me recreate my conversation with them earlier this week when my sites were down also (yes, just a few days ago):

Me: Why were my sites giving a 500 error just a little while ago for an extended period? What's going on?
PowWeb: I just checked your sites and they're loading fine
Me: Yes, I know they're loading fine NOW... but they weren't for a while just moments ago.
PowWeb. Must've been a temporary glitch but they're fine now. Please let us know if it happens again.
Me: if it happens again I'm switching webhosts. I'm tired of this. I already have a replacement lined up.
PowWeb: It won't happen again
Me: That's quite the promise.
END OF CHAT

Ok, so I lied to them. I got the ball rolling to switch webhosts before it happened again.

Ah, sremick. I remember you from my PowWeb days (pre-Endurance and shortly post-Endurance). Best wishes at your new host my friend.

Yeah you're probably the one who banned me!

Just kidding. (maybe?)

Thanks, anyhow. I do remember your name as well.
