VAServ / A2B2 server down for 30+ hours

Posted by MrNabs, 12-15-2009, 10:27 PM
30 hours and counting. 10 hour ago, they said it will be up in 1 hour, but still down, I asked them for update 2 times, but they do not reply. Already lost about $300 in advertising revenue. This September their server went down and was down for more than 3 days, I hope they do not break their record downtime.

Is it a dedicated server or vps ? Has there been any explanation as to why it is down in the first place ?

I'm on shared server. The only explanation I received from them is "We are working on the server and your site will be back in next one hour or so" and its been 11 hours since that message.

Server is still down

Its now down for 1 week, they offered me new VPS and they do not have the backup of my site as well, but still what's the point of taking this offer if their servers keep on crashing for days or weeks? I already had 2 reseller and 1 Shared accounts at Host Gator, and I am very satisfied with their service. I had to move my websites at Host Gator after 50 hours of downtime with A2b2, and looks like I made the right decision, or websites would have been still down. After 4 years with A2B2 / VAServ, Its time to move on, I would suggest everyone to stay away from them.

Wow, it must have been pretty bad for you to leave after four years. Good luck with HG.

As I recently renewed my yearly subscription, I asked either they provide a refund or restore the service. They replied that they are still working on restoration process. I wonder how many months will they take to restore the service.

okay, They closed my ticket, it looks like they are not interested in either restoring the service or a refund. Here is the complete support discussion:

Unfortunately they could not restore the backups, but they created new account on same server on my request.

Wow! How unfortunate! I hope all goes well for you from here on out, I honestly wouldn't have that kind of patient after 'one week' of still 'restoring'. Kudos to you, good sir.

I would have been iffy anyway since the major 'hack' last year, I know many professionals, even myself have considered moving away from VAServ.

They're having problems AGAIN? They seriously need to rethink their backup and server maintenance strategies.

Strange, the A2B2 site is just redirecting to cheapvps
