Server optimization suggestions needed

I have a dedicated that has several cpanel accounts. Every website hosted is using Wordpress.. What kind of optimization would you suggest? We have not done any optimizations on it yet, just pure default.. Thanks!!!

Pretty broad question - BUT - I would tweak the Apache and PHP configurations to allow for better resource usage and install CSF. There are a mountain of "optimizations" that can be performed though. PSM for example has a pretty lengthy list of operations they perform for their mgmt service. https://www DOT platinumservermanagement DOT com

Hi, Wordpress, most of the time, is all about having a good connectivity between the mysql and the web server. There are lot you can do for performance improvement. 1. Optimize MySQL and database. 2. Optimize the Apache Configuration or use Nginx or Varnish. CSF is not for optimization. It is a firewall controlling module, so can't be considered in optimization.

Reasearch a good NGINX reverse proxy plugin for cPanel and use that. Ideally it would also support HTTP/2 if you run HTTPS on any of your sites. With WordPress sites however, the best thing you can do is optimize the CMS by using a decent caching plugin and a CDN. This means: Autoptimize to minify HTML, JS and CSSShortPixel to optimize images (or Kraken.io)Cache Enabler for simple full-page caching (this will decrease your server load!)Redis Object Cache for object caching (requires redis-server and its PHP module to be installed on your server)Use PHP 7 if possible. If you use CloudLinux you can select that PHP version only for your WordPress sites. Also enable ZendOpcacheAt last add a CDN to your sites, such as KeyCDN, CloudFlare, MaxCDN, CloudFront, etc. - you decide. That step is optional, all other steps above are madatory in my opinion to get decent performance out of WordPress Good luck!

Good advice thus far, but to add; CSF along with all and any forms of security should have been installed from day 1, no question. Plugins and themes. Even with the best optimizations done to the database, themes need to look at thoroughly. Some times a theme will have a lot of extra features...and with those features comes a slow down in performance. Images. Let the customers or clients know about the EWWW plugin. It will reduce the image file size in the media folder, and reduce the size during uploads. Go through logs and see if there's any forms of attacks towards the websites. It could either be wp-login attacks or xmlrpc attacks. Either one of those can drastically reduce the performance of a website and server. You can protect each website through the htaccess file, or protect all the websites from the server. With optimization, it's not a one-two steps process that takes a few minutes. Once you study the needs of the server, you then have to make adjustments, assess the results over a period time, and then make more adjustments....and those adjustments may change depending on the usage of the customer...and if this server is shared, you will have to make adjustments that works for everyone.

Dont forget to check the RAID Write Cache settings, it can be trouble when it comes to multi writing to the harddrives

Start with Hardware then Software then your site script. Not easy as a starter.

One of the best things you could possibly do, is edit the Apache configuration to utilize the server to its full. Depending on the specification of the box, you shouldn't really have an performance issues. I'd also suggest adding a reverse proxy to stop the unwanted traffic.

Hi, Need to study about your hardware requirements first. The base of most optimization is purely depends upon its hardware. If you have a better understanding about your hardware requirements then you can simply optimize the server at its peak. There are lot of hosting support companies doing optimizations in a good manner. But I recommended some freelancers too.
