Most providers, at least reputable ones in the US, will accept all major credit cards which includes American Express. Have you found some that don't?

ServerHub advertises that they accept American Express, but I cannot vouch for their quality of service as I've never used them.

A lot of folk don't list AMEX in the pictures of accepted cards. I believe anyone using Stripe or PayPal Pro should be able to accept AMEX, then you also have people who have a merchant account with their bank should be able to as well. If in doubt, ask the business or try it and see if it works.

Any reason why you can't use PayPal to pay? They accept AMEX and I can't see how you'd be blocked unless you've hit some anti-fraud measure.

I was not aware that companies still were not accepting American Express. For the longest time their fees were much higher and their chargeback process for the vendors were terrible. This is not so much the case anymore and as mentioned with companies using PayPal Pro and Stripe, AMX is almost a given. As mentioned you might have to go all the way through the checkout process to see if they take AMX as some may not advertise it with a logo.

I cannot see issues with amex, we never had problems in accepting AMEX, just look at ISPs using stripe.

Then you've never had to deal with their Customer Service Dept. They are horrible. I actually had to go to their Facebook page to rile them up and get them to respond to a couple of my account questions. Can you imagine having to go to the Facebook page of a company that size, just to get them to answer you? Bah! It's no surprise that companies are dropping them left and right.

I'm talking about us getting paid for dedicated servers with amex card. What was your issue at that time?

Posted by wswd, 11-06-2016, 01:32 AM
I needed a simple address change (they messed up the original address in the first place) plus a couple other minor issues, paperless statements, etc. They told me I had to change all that from within the client area of their website, which I also did not have access to, because of another stupid issue on their end. Their website was a complete disaster. After a couple weeks of calls to the Philippines and Bangladesh and wherever else their customer service is outsourced, I gave up. This has been going on for years and still has yet to be resolved. If I didn't have several clients who prefer to use them, I'd drop them like a hot potato. But then again, I'd probably have to do that through their website...which I don't have access to.

From market analysis almost all web hosting companies nowadays seem to be accepting American Express. This should not be a problem for you. Any company who processes credit card payments by Quantum Gateway, Stripe, 2Checkout, PayPal Payments Pro, will all automatically take AMEX

I have platinum, and there is absolutely zero issues with customer service. I also have a bluecash everyday card and the service is just as good. No idea what you're talking about, regarding customer service with american express (it's one of the best out there). Chase saphhire reserved would be my second choice when it comes to customer service.

Correct. I was going to recommend 2CheckOut as well.

Huh??? Are you talking about credit cards you have with them? I'm talking about accepting payments using them, and our business account with them for accepting payments. I don't have a credit card with them, and judging by their business services, I never will. Their business services are atrocious, outsourced to the Philippines and Bangladesh (I asked the techs.), and run by people who don't speak English and don't care.

There are a lot of companies which provide American Express, the main thing is their reliability INHO.
