Ask your provider if you can add on a BBU to your hosting order. This way you don't need to worry about your data nor performance.

i think BBU its not enabled... its better to enable cache increase performance?

the answer is very easy. Enable the write cache if dataloss doesnt result in a death sentence for your business. The performance boost is immense. But if not, go forward without it.

if happen power failure 100% data on RAID 10 will be lost?

a power outage would result in a 100% wipe of data hold on the cache memory from your controller. And that will damage your array. The extent of damage depends on the data stored in the cache at the time of outage.

yes, write cache is disabled - so all should be fine

Check in with your provider for BBU add on upgrade quotation. Personally if you're on a HW RAID configuration it's well worth throwing that $10-$20/month at a BBU .

i think we should add BBU enable caching... for more performance HI thank you for guide us here i have own my server

No problems that what WHT is here for.

if you're able to do that our to receive one from your provider - it's the best solution!

in my opinion is better to have cache enabled as it will boost performance, but this can corrrupt data in a power failure, so your raid must have a batery for it and his disks

Hello i have see a option: No-Battery Write Cache: when i want enable it there is no warning about data lost enable this option its safe ?

Posted by Linevast, 10-31-2016, 10:08 AM
the option only declares that the write cache will be automatically disabled when no battery is detected.

i have set : Drive Write Cache: Disabled No-Battery Write Cache: Enabled its fine? or still is risk

Posted by Linevast, 10-31-2016, 10:12 AM
no, there is no risk.

After i disabled our raid cache, write speed on 6 (raid 10) harddrive was 20 MB/s. This is rediciulos, so after i enabled the cache, it was normal, we use a battery backup for it and i think you should enable it as well.

Yes, the purpose of a BBU is so you can enable write caching. IMHO, it is worth the extra cost to add a BBU to your server, for the added performance you will receive by enabling the caching. You CAN enable write caching without a BBU present, however, you could potentially lose all data on your server in the event of an unexpected shut down, such as if the power was pulled unexpectedly.
