Hostwinds - Worst Experience Ever! (Dedicated Server) Read inside
Posted by abhitochill, 10-27-2016, 04:06 PM |
i have been on here from quite long and i dont recall ever posting a negative review about anyone
but this experience i just cannot hold myself back.. such a **** it is.!
So this week i shifted to hostwinds after seeing good posts about them! but i assure you .. those posts probably are all fake and bought up promotion.. i have never seen this Stupid resolutions from any provider in any field ever!
so this is what happned
i bought their dedicated server.. with extra ram and raid 1 ssd and 1gbps port
and ddos protection and wind shield server protection and windspeed optimisation
and everything best that i thought they could offer
for a simple woocommerce website!
well i wanted best quality and response time
so today my site recieved a very small ddos attack.. the ddos attack did not took my site down but hostwinds system null routed my site ip and took the site down for whole 24 hours!
so i got a ticket that said
"
Code:
now keep in mind that i already have ddos protection!
and ddos wasnt that big even to take down the server!
so i replied them and its been hour or so and still no resolution
i tried to msg them so many times that guys i already have that ddos protection so atleast reverse this null routing that my site would start working...
but no!
they kept on saying we are checking into!
i mean ...dude my site is down and your are for no reason taking your own time for literally no reason?
then after me getting mad and again over and over saying that i have ddos protection too.. so reverse the null routing you can take your time to find your resolution whenver you want just take the god damn null routing off
this is reply i get
"
Code:
"
oh god the ****?
i mean its only a good woocommerce site and have been up from a year on godaddy vps and never did this happen on there ! so no it was not some script on site .. all plugins i use on woocommerce are very common and trusted and daily updated plugins!
and
i mean its a dedicated server with dedicated network port.. so even if there was users spike.. i am not hurting any of their other client why take my site down for whole 24 hours?
what kind of resolution is that
and when they boast about providing 200gbps of ddos protection.. WTF!
never ever go for hostwinds if you care for your business and downtimes!
i am just gonna get my backup and file a refund and shift to someone else!! can someone recommend me some better server that can assure me not to do this ****!
shut ****** support and resolution should be enough to just put them in shitlist... !

Hey,
I looked into this issue, for you and was able to locate your account. The technician who responded indicating you had an outbound attack, was wrong. He misread the graph, and incorrectly indicated this information to you.
You did receive a DDOS attack today, your ip's were set to pass-through mode, instead of being set to correctly detect and filter the attack.
Our team got your server un-null routed today at 15:31. We also have set your ip space to be in automatic mode. Meaning in the even an attack is detected we will automatically begin filtering and scrubbing. I am sorry that the technician Kyle gave you incorrect information, and was not as fast at identifying the issue, and helping you as he should have been. We will be dealing with and rectifying that issue internally.
You can modify and control the state of your IP's at any time by logging into the client area, and going to your DDOS protection product.
We are also updating communication material, to ensure that all users receive a complete guide on how our DDOS system works, and how to fully utilize it. Thankyou for bringing this issue to our attention, things like this help us on our journey to improve our services, and better serve our clients.
Please let me know if there is anything else I can do in order to help.

That's unfortunate but it sounds like HostWinds was able to acknowledge the error and resolve it.
