I currently have: 2 VPS 2 WHM/cPanel Licenses registered on the following IP/hostname - 1.1.1.1 smile.myhost.com - 3.3.3.3 sad.myhost.com 4 IPs - 1.1.1.1 - 2.2.2.2 - 3.3.3.3 - 4.4.4.4 5 domains - myhost.com - myclient1.com - myclient2.com - myproject.com - mysubproject.com Now, I'd like to setup both servers under myhost.com VPS1 smile.myhost.com 1.1.1.1 sad.myhost.com 2.2.2.2 I wanna use myhost.com to 1.1.1.1 (dedicated ip for this domain only) and myclient1.com and myclient2.com to 2.2.2.2 (shared ip for these domains and future domain) VPS2 laugh.myhost.com 3.3.3.3 cry.myhost.com 4.4.4.4 I wanna use myproject.com to 3.3.3.3 (dedicated ip for this domain only) and mysubproject.com (shared ip for this domain and future domains) to 4.4.4.4 So, my question is how do i set the DNS server (bind), where, and which IP do i need to use for nameservers in WHM for all my domains so that I can update it on my domain registrar. Tell me about zone files and which A record should I change and on which server? Do I need to run 2 nameservers bind at both VPS or only at the first server and for myproject.com or mysubproject.com can I use the custom name server too? ns1.myhost.com = ?.?.?.? ns2.myhost.com = ?.?.?.?

One question: VPS1 has 1.1.1.1(main) & 2.2.2.2 (smile.myhost.com - hostname) VPS2 has 3.3.3.3(main) & 4.4.4.4 (sad.myhost.com - hostname) and myhost.com is on VPS1? It is unclear for me... Regards

That's right. myhost.com is on VPS 1.

So you can create: VPS1: ns1.myhost.com / 1.1.1.1 ns2.myhost.com / 2.2.2.2 VPS2: ns3.myhost.com / 3.3.3.3 ns4.myhost.com / 4.4.4.5 On VPS1 in zone myhost.com add: ns3 in A 3.3.3.3 ns4 in A 4.4.4.4 sad in A 3.3.3.3 (for hostname) And register ns1.myhost.com (1.1.1.1), ns2.myhost.com (2.2.2.2), ns3.myhost.com (3.3.3.3), ns4.myhost.com (4.4.4.4) at your register. Now, if you want a domain to be hosted on VPS1, use ns1/ns2 or on VPS2 ns3/ns4 Again if I understood correctly !!! Regards

Yes, this is exactly what I was thinking of doing but looking in the long run, what happens if I have 10 VPS in the future do I need to register all the ns5 ns6 / ns7 ns8 in my domain registrar? I was also wondering my domain registrar only allow up to 8 name servers per domain for registration (A/glue record). What if I want to register ns9 ns10 for my 5th VPS how will I go about? Why not setup a DNS cluster? So, you can use only ns1 and ns2. Moved > VPS Hosting.

Ive been looking for a solid tutorial on setting up a DNS cluster as well for multiple servers across different providers and countries. I keep striving out but I'll post one if I come across it.
