Hi I'm looking for a vps what will work as mailserver. I know that exchange is expensive at moment but maybe you know about good and not too expensive? I don't mind if this will be exchange or linux. As I need to create shared mailboxes, set privilege for users (read only mailbox) etc. Location United Kingdom Any advice?

Hi, well it depends what you find expensive, how many mailboxes you're looking for and what is your budget for it?

That is easy to setup but it depends on how much you are willing to spend.

We hold around 50 mailboxes, some of them has monthly increase in size 100-250mb ( some of them hold many many years emails where is need access to them). average size is up to 5gb. so this is very space required. Price? hmmm much more is important reliable service.

How many emails do you want to send per hour? Or are you looking at this solution for setting up corporate emails?

The best advice that I can give you is to check with the providers that you're interested in and ask what email limits that they have in place. A lot of providers limit the amount of emails you can spend due to spammers.

I do concur with NotHere, as every provider sets their own limits on the amount of email they'll allow in a given period of time.

Why not use email provider like Zoho, Yandex? Setting up VPS for Email server is a big headache if you have no experience with it. Reputation issue, mails going to spam, suspended for email sending limits, etc..

Yes that is true you need a Managed VPS to work with emails or at least a VPS with CPanel or Directadmin to make management easier. It is possible you just have to be prepared to spend at least $30/mo
