VPS with selectable php
Posted by Seb12, 02-03-2016, 05:30 AM |
Hello, I am getting some crazy problem with older script and 2 joomla site. all were working fine on php 5.4 which is end of life.
Of course i am running a VPS and i don't have the option to put multiple linux version or selectable version. I am not using cloudlinux but only centos 6.7 something and latest cpanel.
is there an easy way to load something that really work so i can select the php version for specific account.
thanks for ideas

I'm in the same boat as you!
I use DSO as PHP handler so I can't have the multi PHP option!
What I do is keep my main Dedi as current PHP version.....then a small VPS for previous version
Anything older than that I refer across to Big Scoots for them to take out their own hosting accounts. Impossible for us to support J1.5 sites these days.

Hello,
Are you looking to select different PHP version for different domains? If yes, you can do it by installing ntPHP selector on the server. Once it is installed, it allows you to select the php version for each domain from their cPanel.

Instead of getting another vps to use php 5.4, then better get cloudlinux instead. Much cheaper and much secure.

agree with you. but if you are paying for a vps and paying for cpanel. then it's too expensive for me...to pay for cloudlinux.
depends on people.

yeah i can fully understand.
I found a way. I disable php error in php.ini and it seems to sort the problem of old script.
My site seems to load fine but still need to fix few things.

Didn't cPanel include a PHP selector in the latest builds or is that only in the beta's?
I was sure there was an FPM based version selector.

Just install ntphp so cpanel user can chose their php version for each directory if needed

Hi. cPanel has support for Multi-PHP with EasyApache 4, which is still in beta version. They are planning to release EA4 as default soon, after finishing fixing last issues, but you can already give it a try on your system by installing it manually.

Its already out there, its available on cpanel paper lantern theme.
Also, not sure if you have WHM/cPanel licnese or not, it doesnt' says anything in your original post, but if you are using then cPanel recently added the PHP selector as the default feature available. That should ease out your issue.

Yeah - it's there. Unfortunately still no support for Cloudlinux which is disappointing.

Ah, you're wanting the performance gains from FPM I guess?
