Surprised at CROCWEB
Posted by I-M Law, 05-12-2014, 02:15 PM |
Heard good things about Crocweb on here and even had narrowed down my choices between CrocWeb and Stablehost when I started looking to transfer from Hostgator at beginning of this year. Went with Stablehost and have to say their service is fantastic. But since I was burned by Hostgator previously I didn't want to put all my eggs in one basket. So I figured I would work with two hosting providers. Since we are growing I wanted to start testing CrocWeb and see how they performed.
Didn't even get out of the gate after having problems purchasing a reseller plan, kept getting a message from PayPal (surprised that they use PayPal to do their invoicing) that the card could not be processed, even tried a second card. So I thought I'd contact Crocweb and see about a workaround. I would have even purchased this reseller account over the phone, until talking to a CrocWeb sales rep online...
You are now chatting with Mike P. (Sales)
Mike says:
Hello, how may I assist you today?
Robert says:
Hello, Having a problem paying my invoice
Robert says:
CrocWeb - Invoice #15816
Robert says:
Tried my American Express card, received a "The card you entered cannot be used for this payment. Please enter a different credit or debit card number."
Robert says:
Card is in good standing
Mike says:
Which method are you using?
Robert says:
Tried my mastercard same issue
Robert says:
Pay with a debit or credit card(Optional) Join PayPal for faster future checkout
Mike says:
This is an issue at PayPal's end,
Mike says:
You may have to contact them.
Robert says:
I don't have time to start talking to PayPal for your invoice
Robert says:
Your using them for your invoicing you should make sure they are working correctly
Mike says:
They are working properly for other clients.
Mike says:
If there is an issue with your specific Credit Card then we you have to contact them directly.
Robert says:
Mike, I use these cards for other vendors
Mike says:
You could try using other payment methods we have which are Payza and Skrill.
Mike says:
It is PayPal who will charge your credit card so you will have to contact them.
Robert says:
How about I just go to a different hosting vendor?
Mike says:
That is your choice but usually if PayPal is not excepting your card it won't work for others also.
Mike says:
There is nothing we can do from our end.
Robert says:
You know Mike, I was going to ask you, how do I get out of paying by PayPal and use the other ones you mentioned before you said "
It is PayPal who will charge your credit card so you will have to contact them." but now I don't think CrocWeb is a good fit for my firm
Robert says:
"That is your choice but usually if PayPal is not excepting your card it won't work for others also." lol my cards work finr for my stablehost account lol
Mike says:
If you don't want to contact PayPal then there isn't much I can help you with in this situation.
Mike says:
Is there anything else I can assist you with?
Robert says:
Nooooo we are done. Good day Mike.
Mike says:
No problem.
Mike says:
Have a nice day!

I don't think they are obligated to do so... If paypal is refusing YOUR cards that doesn't mean they should contact them to solve YOUR problem (Since it's working for other clients).

I don't know what to make out of that. We've had clients complaining about payments not going through and we've gone over and beyond with Paypal but they refuse to give you any information about the issues a client's account has, and rightly so. I think you should really sort it out with them directly. The provider is mostly pretty hapless in such a situation.

Just to add to what dotted said.
I highly doubt PayPal would talk to them at all about the issue. They would want to talk to the person that was having trouble with their cards.

You cant blame Crocweb because your card does not work.

Agreed with what's already been said, PayPal are in charge of what cards they do or do not accept, CrocWeb has absolutely no control over that, and it's very likely that PayPal would only talk to the card holder regarding an issue with a card.
There's probably a very good reason that CrocWeb don't have other payment processors.

Why are you surprised?
I couldn't login to my royalbank.com account. Damn crocweb should have fixed it for me >:|

There is really not much a merchant can do in a situation such as this, other than ask the client to try another payment method.
So complaining here about how CrocWeb wouldn't help you really wasn't necessary.
If you are presenting a legitimate payment method and there was something wrong on CrocWeb's end, I'm sure they or any other reputable provider would have went above and beyond to try and assist you.

It happened to me with other providor and I had to contact paypal since it wasn't their problem at all, paypal fixed it for me. As other said is not CrocWeb problem

Firstly, I did not see anything wrong with the way it was handled. It is your card not Crocweb's own. They cannot contact the merchant provider on your behalf. You definitely have to do that.
Secondly, I thought you were quick to jump at conclusions based on the convo you posted. They did recommend alternatives one of which would have definitely been an alternative for your CC, but you refused. When things were dying down, you pushed it in the rep's face that he handled it poorly and you "were" going to ask about using one of the alternatives of which I really do not think that was true anyway.
Thirdly, "...usually if PayPal is not excepting your card it won't..." = "...usually if PayPal is not accepting your card it won't..." (just had to correct it)

Here we go ahead with the superiority complex in action...tsk...tsk...tsk!
"I'm busy, I don't have time" whatever. "You're using Paypal", you should fix"...blah...blah...blah!
<> life is simple pal...stop complaining!
If you do not want to do it; then don't and go with the other provider.

As others said, this is a paypal issue so contact them, it really is not crocs fault.
They would probably help you but paypal never help anyone other than the account holder.

I don't see any fault of Crocweb here.
It's you who have the issue with Paypal so only you have to contact Paypal for sorting out the issue my friend.

Sorry you had issues with Paypal. We do accept Skrill and Payza as well.
If you are still interested in our service, please private message me and we could work something out. I can also add a free month of service for your trouble if we can get your payment to go through.

I had a similar problem with mastercard, the problem is because paypal does not accept my card because there was another email associated with that card.

Found this for you https://www.paypal-community.com/t5/...nt/td-p/460615
Perhaps you have an old account you don't remember associated or someone else has associated your card with a PayPal account? You should be able to process the payment using other methods they have though

Well, a purchase on the same Amex for $3100 went through fine a couple of hours ago. And like I said I used the same card on another hosting account and it worked fine. The second card that was also refused I bought ink cartridges and paper since the "refusal". I even said I tried two different cards...
Since I am in the business of internet marketing/lead generation and in my mind if I set up a cart on a site, and a customer says they are having problems I would look into that problem, even call whoever the merchant provider was and investigate. Especially if I might be losing business!! Maybe that's just me and how I run my business... but I'll stick with it. and like I said I was contacting CrocWeb because I thought this was a PayPal error and would've tried an alternate method, but you keep hearing "If there is an issue with your specific Credit Card then we you have to contact them directly," over and over it's time to move on. I did say I tried two separate credit cards. And I have no idea what to make of PayPals message "The card you entered cannot be used for this payment. Please enter a different credit or debit card number."
lol I guess I might as well field comments here, I have no reason to call PayPal, like I said both cards work fine, have made transactions since this. Since everyone seems to think I used one card I did not, tried two cards and both are in good standing. I wasn't blaming CrocWeb for my card "not working", seems to be working fine. So in response to some of the comments;
Dotted-thanks for disregarding me saying "I use these cards for other vendors" and just going with "They are working properly for other clients." Read and comprehend "everything" before you talk. And my card was "refused???", I couldn't tell by the PayPal message.
Victormeldrew-My cards work fine.
rits-Royalbank.com what??? (canadian bank? lol), if I go to Apple and try to buy a product, and they send me to PayPal or some other merchant account and I can't buy that product with a legit card, then something is seriously wrong... Should I contact Apple? Or whomever handles their merchant account? As for me complaining? If I get good service I say so, If i get bad service, should I just be quiet?
Hostmantis-I tried, thats why I contacted them.
hostultimo-as for me jumping to conclusions and I refused, I was open to an alternative and was typing a question about Payza or Skrill when I got the 3rd "You have to contact PayPal" and I was done, and now supposedly I was lying about wanting to use an alternative… lol so I contacted CrocWeb just to waste time? really? whatever…
<>
Eased-I felt silly after reading your post.
CircuitoX and Wirenine-wasn't creating an account, I was using the credit card option. PayPal did ask for an email but there was no PayPal account associated with the email. And I couldn't tell if that was it from the PayPal message.
Hello CrocWeb-Thanks but I'll pass, don't need a free month just need fast, reliable servers and good service but I had to laugh when you said "if we can get your payment to go through." btw you didn't send some trolls after me did you? lolol Go Bruins

Looks like in the end it all worked out for Crocweb.

It's possible that CrocWeb, when processing credit cards uses the AVS and your billing address info did not match the billing address of the card and the other providers you are using the card with do not use the AVS, so that is why you did not have the issue elsewhere.
Either way, to place the blame entirely on them isn't right. The merchant simply present the payment info to the gateway and whether or not the info is accepted by the gateway is certainly not the merchants fault.

No problem, good luck with your other providers.

Hostmantis-Who says I was blaming someone??? Now I see how rumours get started lol I also worked for a large bank in NYC and know one of the first fraud checks is if the billing address doesn't match the billing address of the card...
CrocWeb-No problem, already have a great provider. Good luck to you and your merchant account with PayPal...
