SeeksAdmin After 6 Months
Posted by Tom M, 09-02-2007, 06:25 PM |
I purchased a new server from exportal around 6 months ago now that came with DirectAdmin.
All previous servers I've had came with cPanel and I was confident enough to do the day to day administration with this but always had management in some form behind me; previously I used PSM for quite a few months and was always happy with them, but since they don't support non-cPanel servers they were not an option this time. I also had a server with JonesSolutions (who themselves manage the servers they sell) and was always very happy with their management.
Thanks to WHT I managed to put together a list of management companies that offered support for DirectAdmin but I found those that did were generally too pricey for me (I am well aware that of the "You pay for what you get" mentality) but since my server from exportal was taking me to the edge of my monthly budget I needed something "well priced" Seeksadmin caught my eye pretty much straight away due to the amount of threads (which were majority positive) about them, the fact they support DirectAdmin and they offered a plan that was priced perfectly for me.
I sent in a few questions to their sales department and they answered promptly and professionally. Shortly after this I created an account, I sent a list of what I wanted done (standard "new server" hardening and optimisation) and they proceeded. All this was done within about 6-7 hours (it was a fairly tall-order so I had expected it to take a few hours). I checked everything over (within my limited ability) and had a friend (sysadmin) take a look over things and all looked good.
Shortly after I purchased the add-on package from them, what back then was called the "Platinum Security Package" which offered more advanced security hardening and more customisation. This totalled numerous tickets from me during the implementation, and I'm glad to say they installed everything as requested and I've not had any issues with my server (in relation to security) to date (touch wood!!).
During my time with SeeksAdmin I've created around 30 tickets (most of these are for little things that bugged me, some regarding errors that Logwatch was reporting that I didn't understand, setting up remote backups, checking over settings to some security software, tweaking server software, dns tweaks etc.) - Out of these (and looking now) around 28 of them have been answered in a professional manner and have addressed the issue I had when I opened the ticket.
I've dealt with several of the techs there, and I'm happy with all of them aside one...there is one tech I've found to be "less helpful" than the others, but I've just reopened the ticket at a later date if I haven't felt it was addressed properly (I'm aware that I could probably have asked for it to be handled by someone else and/or escalated it, but I just haven't done that).
Response Times to tickets have generally been great. I'd say around 90% of my tickets have been responded to within an hour (normally less than this), and 85% completed within 1-6 hours (generally 2/3 hours - none of my tickets have been "urgent" aside from one, and that was picked up and actioned within an hour)
There was one ocassion where a ticket went un-actioned (it was replied to, just not completed) for about 13 hours (around this) but it was a non-urgent matter and I'd have bumped the ticket if it was (I'm confident they would have addressed the issue alot sooner had it been urgent though.).
All in all I've been very happy with SeeksAdmi. At one stage I did look around for another management company - This was for a different server and for a friend whos was in the same boat as I - I eventually chose SeeksAdmin (again) for him.
That was all abit long winded but I hope it helps some one, some where, some way!

manofquestions: Yes, I'm sure There are numerous management companies out there that offer similiar services to SeeksAdmin, shop around before making your choice is my advice. But my review is of my own experience with them, and that has been a good experience so far!
Frimon86: My Pleasure!

I'm not very impressed with Seeksadmin so far.
I've emailed their sales about some questions I had this morning/early afternoon (GMT) and so far not a single reply.
Its no dig at them, I just find it a bit slow.

Philip,
I also sent a sales ticket in yesterday regarding requesting some additional service. I've not received a reply to this either.
I can only say they are normally very prompt with Sales tickets so unsure of the problem - Support however is working as normal from what I can see.

It isn't right to decide whether a server management/web hosting company is good or bad by their response times to sales/billing tickets as those departments may not be available 24x7.

Yeah no one should judge a company by sales or billing emails unless they guarantee you a response in them departments then yeah. SeeksAdmin seems like a great management company and I heard allot of good things about them. Way to go.

Just a followup on this...
The sales email I sent to SeeksAdmin (mentioned in my second post here) was regarding them securing/hardening a second server for me.
After a small delay with responding from Sales (totally acceptable in my book), Tris got back to me and personally took my new server credentials and assigned it to a support agent.
I took out their Ultimate Security package. I listed around 34 things I wanted done to the server in the initial ticket, Asif (one of their techs) took my ticket and everything was done in about 12 hours (personally I find the size of the job thats a pretty decent time scale)
After Asif had finished the intitial job, he replied and listed everything he'd done, to which I followed up with new tickets (about 10-12) regarding personal tweaks/adjustments I wanted made to the new software and overall security of the server. Everything was completed to my complete satisfaction.
Big thanks to SeeksAdmin...Asif (if he is around on this forum!), Tris and Mike who dealt with my barrage of tickets over the past 48 hours!
The server is now operational and I'm very happy, again.
Thanks SeeksAdmin

thanks for the complete review, Edenapple.
Yeah, I do agree. Although it's an indication but we should not base a judgment on how fast the salespeople reply to our ticket.

Thats really good to hear, and I agree that judgment should never be made on the time is takes on a sales reply.
