Question about e-mailing.

Hello folks,
I am relatively new to being a reseller owner. I've lived all my life on standard hosting but because I work in website design I decided to offer hosting services to clients.
When I create an e-mail account for clients in cPanel, what should their default space allocation be? cPanel sets it to 250 MB. I feel that is a little too low, seeing that free providers offer 7 and 5 gbs.
What do you guys do? I know there are some options, such as downloading e-mails as pop but that would no longer download on a smartphone.
Is 250 too little? Or should I just tell them "once your limit is full, you have to delete"?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

I've had my gmail account since early 2002. I'm only at like 2gb of space used. Unless your users are super busy receiving 250mb would be fine. You can always upsell bigger boxes if users need them.
