Starting a Hosting Provider

Posted by hostdelta, 03-13-2013, 06:43 AM
Hi Every One, I am planning to start a web hosting business in South Asian Region. I have almost fixed on purchasing the resellership from a hosting provider until I dropped in here. Since then everything has changed and for last several days I have read quite a good number of posts before coming to a decision. Now the options came down to: 1. Domain Reseller: resell.biz 2. Windows Reseller: premiumreseller.com 3. Linux Reseller: bigbrainglobal.com 4. VPS & Dedicated: godaddy.com Now I am a bit concerned about resell.biz not providing technical support outside business hours but I have read quite a few good reviews about them. Not sure about Premium Reseller but I read few post by the owner of that company & I liked his straight forward approach. However, if they can advise me which location (US or UK) would be suitable for Internet traffic in South Asian Region, that would be much appreciated. I choose Big Brain due to their highly positive review here even though I didn't see any clause with numbers for resource usage in their TOS. If Brian can assure me about the service that would be much appreciated. Regarding godaddy, I am using a VPS from for over a year & half and I never had a problem and actually I liked their support. So, I am putting my faith on them for VPS and Dedicated. Can you guys please let me know if my choices are good for the start or I should do some more research. Resell.biz is a great registrar, support will be a little slow but you'll rarely ever need it. Premiumreseller.com and Bigbrainglobal.com offer realistic hosting packages at the price points they are selling and have active reps on WHT, I've never used either but would assume you'll be ok with them. Godaddy is the only option you might want to reconsider, just based on the fact that you're more of an affiliate than a reseller with them.

I had a Windows VPS with PremiumReseller a couple of years back and my experience has not been a good one with them. Resell.biz should work great for your domain needs. BigBrain is also a good provider. The one point you should take a look is using GoDaddy- when they're good, they are good. But when the going gets tough they might cause you troubles.

Thanks for your feedback. What I am most concerned about is Domain Registration and Shared Hosting. In my country, very few people are familiar with VPS and Dedicated Server. So I am not expecting lot of response for that option and also I am not planning to go for VPS and Dedicated Server Reseller ship in near future. I am planning to handle it case by case basis. So that leaves the option open. Thanks, Faisal << snipped >> Last edited by Ash; 03-28-2013 at 02:58 PM.

The domain registration part completely depends on you. We use ResellerClub, good costs, good team to work with. The Shared Hosting, just go with a good provider, it might need a few trials before you hit on a provider you like, but the trials are worth it. IF you are lucky, you might be all god with your first provider as well.

I am still not trust Resell.biz(you maybe find my review on WHT archive). I recommend Reselerclub for registrar and Hostdime/Surpasshosting for Hosting. Hostdime support response time is faster than others and they help us for most things. For example; Godaddy support response time take 6 hours, Hostdime is 30 minutes in average.

My experience with GoDaddy has not been good in terms of support, or customized solutions to problems.

Godaddy should not even be an option. Yuck.

I would recommend resellerclub for the domain. They offer support 24x7
